Florida Sailor All is well with the world Posted Aug 29, 2015
Sorry, just got over here
Yes paulh there are warmer channels http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/02/world/americas/diana-nyad-cuba-florida-swim/ , of course they also have sharks, barracuda and jellyfish.
The first thing we learn here when swimming at the beach is the 'stingray shuffle' as they will inflict painful wounds if you step on them. Sea urchins also have painful spines.
Barnacle shells are very sharp, do not kick them, or grab a piling.
Have fun

My local chlorinated indoor swimming pool meets my needs 99% of the time. The remaining 1% finds me at Echo Lake in North Conway, New Hampshire, deep in the White Mountains.
The most challenging channel I might ever want to swim would be the Mississippi River, but not where it's huge and fast. On the other hand, the places where the channel is narrower are also far enough North to be kind of cold.
Let me rethink t6his.
Wonderful!

You do NOT want to swim the Mississippi River where it is warm.
There are alligators, sharks, and 200-lb catfish in there.
Wonderful!

Just to point stray readers . . .
There was an Announcemnt < A85834173 > about the channel swim.
The even confirmed he made it < F21546918?thread=8314260 >
Recent news suggests the shark population in the North Sea is increasing not to scare off potential swimmers, the influx only feeds on crustaceans."
