Thanks for reminding me Maria. I think I had heard that we should try to buy wine corked with the natural product. Far too often I just pick a wine I like without consideration.
I'll remind myself next time I pull a cork to think of the cork growing oak trees.
I love your photograph too, so misty and soft.

Surely you´d heard about it. It´s very much said. Enologist at least insist on natural cork.
The tree is the cork oak,( Quercus suber) in Spanish, alcornoque.
Ecologists love that tree, it´s very eco-friendly for a few reasons.
The trees in the picture are holm( holly) oaks, Quercus ilex, the encina.
I´m glad que te guste

Yes! And that photo is just such a marvel of atmosphere, I am there, transported into that smoky blue/grey mist. How to return from travelling through a photo? haha. Have to travel onwards through the back of the frame, never the same, ah never the same. Gracias Maria!

Well I am sure that the natural cork improves the flavour since it lets a minute amount of air in to complete the flavour of the wine. None of the artificial bottle tops can manage that. Mother Nature knows best.

I love the photo too and it was interesting reading about cork - I vaguely recall once seeing something negative about using cork for wine bottles, but your article makes good sense
