One Man's Woodcraft: Carving.
The Green Man: Part 10

Not much done since last time, just a bit around His cheeks, where the leaf stems emerge from His nose-flares, during which operation, uncertainty and nervousness set in...
So, with things having come pretty well to a halt as far as carving is concerned, I bethought me to look back over the series so far.
D'ye know, I came away with the feeling that it had been written as if by an expert.
As far as woodturning is concerned, it would be disingenuous to claim no expertise (see here) as I must have some by now, even though I'm very well aware that becoming an expert is still an impossible distance away: too many years' practice and experience needed.
Woodcarving? Nay Moddom, Nay Sirree, 'tis not in sight, nor over the horizon. This little old boy pretends to chop away with the best of 'em but the current hiatus is anti-indicatory thereof. Harrumph.
The damn' thing sits there grinning at me, enjoying my discombobutation and that doesn't help, not one little bit.
Give Him His due though, he's doing pretty much what I hoped He would – exercise my head by thinking about it, how to go about it and exercising my concentration – all of which can be doing nought but good, eh?
But there is one aspect not present – I can no longer envision what I'm aiming for and I do miss that.
Luckily, we're a few weeks' preparations ahead of publication so, perhaps, I should do what real artists do and go on a bender? Hmm, p'r'aps not – Ms Stress's radar is too good...
