Can A87820716 Class Segregation and the Evolution of the British Railway Carriage count? Historic firsts it mentions include:
1807 - the Oystermouth & Swansea Railway was the first horse-drawn passenger-carrying waggonway.
1825 - the first steam railway, the Stockton & Darlington Railway, opened.
1830 - The world's first passenger steam railway, the Liverpool & Manchester Railway opened.
1830 - The first passenger station in Manchester is now the site of the Museum of Science & Industry
1834 - the first oil lamps were provided for First Class passengers.
1840 - Queen Victoria's first Royal Coach.
1844 - The Regulations of Railways Act first required Third Class carriages to be roofed
1846 - Fatal Accidents Act for the first time allowed compensation to be granted for accidental death.
1854 - The London Necropolis Railway was London's first corpse railway.
1856 - County and Borough Police Act introduce police forces nationwide.
In 1863, the Metropolitan Railway opened the world's first Underground, between Bishop's Road and Farringdon.
1870 Elementary Education Act introduced free education for children.
1874 - The first standard-gauge bogie carriages in Britain.
1876 – First sleeper trains.
1879 - First dining carriage in Britain.
1880s - First carriages with toilets introduced.
1883 - Experimental narrow-gauge Volk's Electric Railway first electric train.
1889 - First electrically-lit train, also the first train with Corridor carriages and 'gangways', allowing passengers to travel from one carriage to the next
1892 - First Clerestory Carriages. Also first train to be heated.
1889 - Railway signalling and Automatic brakes.
1890 - World's first deep tube line, the City and South London Railway, became the first standard-gauge electrified railway in Britain.
1909 - The world's first inter-city electric railway the London to Brighton route.
1918 - Representation of the People Act allows poor men and rich women to vote for first time.
1928 - Poor women allowed to vote for first time.
1920s – First electrically-operated doors.
1946 - National Health Service Act allowed free healthcare for all
1949 – UK's first & only Double Decker trains.
