My first attempt at an actual Flea Market rescue.

I don't think I would enjoy this meal, but in the Peer Review thread it was suggested that the recipe should be aimed at a 17 year old looking to impress his girlfriend, and I can identify with that, so I hope I did it justice.

I'm sure many of us will be happy to see this rescue Sasha, as the late gandalfstwin mentioned it was a favourite recipe of his wife's, I seem to remember.

I think you've done an excellent job of turning this into a recipe that could be very useful to an inexperienced cook, you've explained the steps really clearly which I think is exactly what this sort of a meal would benefit from.

I've only got a few queries, and this is to do with the term 'cube' for the chopped onion and mushroom. I'd say, finely chopped for onion and sliced for mushrooms. I know GT specified actual measurements, but we don't usually find such instructions in a recipe.

You've got a few stray capital letters, and one too many exclamation marks somewhere, but the bottom line is that you've rescued your first FM Entry! smiley - bubbly

Get this one into the Edited Guide, and only four more rescues to go and you get to earn a Scavenger badge on your personal space. Take a look at the Pliny version of this badge - it is really cool.

Hi SashaQ

You did it justice smiley - applause

I was wondering especially given the target audience if warming the tomatos through in a seperate pan is really necessary, given that in shared houses, student accomadation there can be shortage of pans, clean ones mainly.

Could they not just be added to the frying pan with the other ingredients and warmed through? I think the end result would taste just the same.

Also the grating of the cheese nothing wrong with this unless you haven't got a grater smiley - winkeye but how would feel about saying you can either grate or slice the cheese for the cheese topping?

You have done a great job with the entry but keeping the slices in for some reason I thought keeps Gandolfstwin in it as much as possible. Hopefully that doesn't sound too silly

smiley - smiley great that you could rescue this

I agree Peanut about adding the tomatoes directly to the other ingredients. This also gives a bit more taste to the tomatoes. For me just garlic is not really enough, the tomatoes could certainly need some more spices, or at least salt if spices are not available.
Also with other recipes like that it is (in my experience) often the case that there is too little fluid at the bottom of the disch, so the noodles tend to get quite hard there. It happens with lasagna for instance. You can prevent that when putting a little bit of (tomato) sauce to the bottom before putting the noodles into the dish. I'm not sure I believe the mushrooms and onions have enoug h fluids to do that.smiley - huh

What do you think?

Thanks everyone! smiley - biggrin

I've modified the chopping paragraph smiley - ok

I've added links smiley - ok (my girlfriend is a good cook smiley - drool so she usually goes in the kitchen when she visits, but I like to return the favour occasionally, just to prove I can smiley - biggrin especially as I'm quite a bit older than 17...)

I've added an extra paragraph about the alternative method using fewer pans, but kept GT's recipe the same - I hope that's OK smiley - ok

I put the sliced cheese back in - not silly at all smiley - ok (it was me being a bit silly - I'm like 2legs in a mirror universe, not keen on bacon or cheese!)

I've added more about herbs and spices smiley - ok

I also realised that it isn't a "bake" so I amended the title - the pasta is already cooked and only goes into the dish for a few minutes, so it should be fine when the dinner is served - I hope that now reads OK as well smiley - ok

Good thinking about adding the alternative cooking idea rather than changing it and thank you for putting the slices back in smiley - cheers

Nothing to add, really - well rescued! smiley - smiley

Oh, except that this recipe reminds me of the things my daughter would return with in a Tupperware box after her school cookery lessons. After a bad day at work, I regularly had to eat this kind of mangled baked pasta dish and pretend I was enjoying it. smiley - erm
