The Many Moods of h2g2

A robot posing as Rodin's 'Thinker' No, that's not 2legs. (He refused to pose.) But this week's offerings got us thinking: h2g2ers go just about everywhere, from the South African landscape to the forests of California, from Manchester's busy (and wet) streets to Tokyo. . . you get the idea. And wherever they go, they tell us about it. This is much appreciated. We can travel far from our computer chairs – even when, like the Editor, we're down with the 'flu. (The Editor is able to take solid nourishment today, thanks.) All this vicarious sightseeing is good for the soul.

Elton the Hampster's been busy on his journeys. Check below for his holiday snaps. Phoenician Trader's got another cathedral for us to admire, while Deke is making progress on the Wey. Willem's got a treat for you: he's travelled in space and time, and given us a bonus of two articles about giraffes then and now. Enjoy.

Awix has watched Total Recall, so you don't have to (unless you want to). benjaminpmoore brings us a thoughtful essay on the question of parenthood. There's more verse from jwf, and another quiz to keep your wits sharp. What more could you ask?

If your response to that rhetorical question was, 'Well, actually. . . ', then write it yourself. And send it to us care of The Post (gmail address below).

Have a great week – and avoid this 'flu bug, it's nasty.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
