I can see that this article required a great deal of work.smiley - smiley

But I'm afraid that, from the point of view of the reader, it's a bit indigestible smiley - erm. Frankly, I wouldn't want to read the whole of it.

Personally, I would take out the list of memorials, if not the list of museums. I would concentrate on the main items of interest: the Titanic Belfast Museum, Southampton and the Titanic, etc.

I like the section on Myths, though this could be in a separate article.

Hello – thanks for dropping by and for your honest comments. I agree that this a little bit on the long side, and ended up being far longer than I had originally intended or envisioned. I think you have certainly raised a couple of very valid points. At the moment the list of museums does come across rather like a list that's been dumped into the article – I don't think deleting the list entirely is the answer, but I will try to do something to make the list of museums and the list of memorials feel integral to the article, and less like lists.

Should the Myths be a separate article? Well – that would certainly cut the article's length in half and it is a natural dividing point. In many ways the myths section does seem quite different to what has come before, despite describing the same ship. I am happy to consider splitting the myths into a separate article – what do other people think?

I've decided to split the article in half, with this half concentrating on the commemorative services, memorials and museums and I've moved the myths into a separate article, which can be found here: F48874?thread=8293050

This article has masses of interesting information and works well on its own.smiley - smiley

I wonder, however, if it wouldn't work better if structured differently. Something on the following lines, possibly:

Introduction.
Southampton and the Titanic - effect on the city, museums, events, memorials, etc
Belfast and the Titanic -museums, events, memorials etc
Halifax and the Titanic - museums, events, memorials etc
Queenstown and the Titanic - musems, events, memorials etc
Any other musems, events, memorials etc.

Sorry if I seem to be hard on you.

But I'm hardest of all on my own stuff. In the story I'm currently working on, I've reinvented my anti-hero twice and rewritten my first chapter 15 times so far. smiley - smiley

I appreciate your honesty. I want you to know that I am seriously considering the points you are making. The problem with your suggestion is that if we move to sections on Southampton, Belfast, Halifax etc and put everything in those sections, it will soon become very apparent that there's a plethora of stuff on Southampton, a bit on Belfast and Halifax, and not that much on the rest of the world. We'd end up with a similar structure for the rest of the world to what we have at the moment anyway.

I have restructured the museum section, moving the museum list to the end of that section and cutting down on the repetition. The attractions section is now moved to the very end - as you said, the rest of the article is concerned with museums, monuments and commemorative events and so having the attractions section in the middle felt a little out of place.

This article wouldn't have been anyway near how it's turned out without the support of Barneys Bucksaws (U168710), Beatrice (U190170) and Dmitri Gheorgheni (U1590784). I'm very grateful for their contribution, which should be applauded.

Something h2g2 can do really well is allow people in different countries to come together and contribute to a mutual article.smiley - applause
