I'm seirously wondering about my time too... I think* I'll have time for this, but I really can't see myself doing the 50000 words for the novel in any meaningful way other than just messing up err... time I spend with someone... which, well I don't really want to do
Plus I'm sure I have to wash my hair...

I don't know for sure if I'm allowed to post here. But I'll give it a go.
I don't know what it means to 'sign up'
Why do you sign up? Where do you sign up?
I mean if you want to write something in your journal everyday..you do it any way.
Obviously it'll be good if there is a way for people to share journal posts for a month.
Yeah I'm doing HoMo for a month...
Could someone please explain where the place is that means we all know who's doing it?
I'll be writing about any old thing that comes up as perusual.

I'm not doing it now if I'm treated like a total child.
I'll just write in my journal..and friends can see if they are interested.

@Ivan. He he. Go for it. @2legs. He he he he he.
@nim. I'm glad you think this could be a good project for you. Welcome aboad!
@Hyp. Sorry to hear that. Next year I shall insist!
@Mini. Excellent!
@Effers. You have posted to this thread so you have signed up for the h2g2 journal writing month. The other place I linked to is very much an optional extra. Feel free to pay no attention to it!
I will put up a list of people taking part on the page above this weekend. Promise!

Now I'm all confused as to what do do... I could do the Harry the Minnow, or a journal entry by journal entry addition onto the origional night of teh hoover storeys featured in the post years and years back damn... that's still two ideas... which still kinda lends itself to doing one for the journal/blog thing, and one for the novel thing
I don't have time, I don't have time... well... maybe I do...

Sol.
And you'll post here the list of us on h2g2 doing it. Excellent. It'll be fun to look at how we all approach this project in our different ways during the month. And feed of each other..as always happens which is nice.
Also if some people want to join during..that should be encouraged..not put off because they weren't there from the satrt.
I don't have any clear plan about my journals..as the saying goes..'Feel the fear and do it anyway'.

Blast! I almost had "Hidden" as the Subject line, or "Removed" on the second iteration. Wonder what ~that~ was all about?

>Wonder what ~that~ was all about?<
Yeah the world is full of mysteries.
Wondering can give material got writing about though
'Hidden' is something I'm very familiar with at present. (Actually co-incidently there's a superb drama on BBC at present called that..staring sexy Phillip Glanister).
We're a motley crew with this journal thing.

Effers is on pre-mod so her postings here initially show as hidden/removed until they've been seen by a mod and okayed or rejected.

@Rabbi
Colour within the lines?
Yeah I can do that to..on occasion
The journal thing can be really fun..people can just muck about for a month with it..Even if the journal is just a title for one day. Titles in themselves are a whole art form.
It's gonna be and fun

I don't know if you agree Sol, but I'm just suggesting you could post a thread on Ask about this. I can't or I would.
To maybe get people not scared to take part or daunted. That one journal a day can be as playful as you want with language..or as I said even a title.
In fact it might be quite cool to just post a title every day and people could respond or not.
But to make it seem something as inclusive as possible as something for people to do.
I think because at present there is a lot of anxiety and tension around, that is certainly how I feel, and probably others, judging by threads on Ask, we could make this a really POSITIVE and CREATIVE thing for lots of people to get right into.
And also if they don't manage one a day..that's fine..do you what you can and have fun...or something along those lines.

I agree - some advertising in the busiest part of the site would be good. I only found out because of Ivan mentioning it and then had to search for this page.

I'd like it if we could in some way make it something h2g2..not just to do with WriMo..and emphisise the idea of it being fun and not 'pressure'.
We need more fun here at present...defo
Yes of course one could be proud if you managed a novel in a month..or to a Journal properly every day for a month.
But there's more than one way to skin a cat.
And Ask is the most popular thoroughfare. I very very rarely look at the Post. But maybe I'm the exception.

But I think NaJoPoMo is about the challenge. Yes people should be encouraged to submit fun journal entries with no pressure, but there's no point going into the challenge thinking "I'll submit a journal entry every day for a month...or not, whatever, no pressure". If it's approached in that way there's no point signing up to the challenge in the first place. Just post a journal or not.

Yes as I said,
>Yes of course one could be proud if you managed a novel in a month..or to a Journal properly every day for a month.<
Of course it's about the challenge.
But we are h2g2 not NaJoPoMo. We can do *both*.
Especially at present...living through exceptional times here.
But I'm trying to adapt that idea for us.
I've been banging on for months about Journals and how they can be used a bit like 'Sketchbooks' are on an Art Foundation course..and in fact sketchbooks are like diaries..which are journals.
(Sketchbooks are not literally about sketchy drawings..but the whole shebang).
Getting people onboard and feeling safe and playful in journals...seems a million times more important to me than the *literalness* of NaJoPoMo.
I'm seeing it as something h2g2..that can be the first stage towards getting confident about writing...which *eventually* will mean lots of people could contribute to the guide..which yes is a communal thing..and about 'challenge'
