Two picksthis week that can be upsets if they come good for me.
Oakland to get the win at Buffalo will most likely not be a majority pick, and the Jags to beat Indy IN Indy is something that I know I'll be one of a very small minority to pick as winners.

I'm tempted by Oakland over Buffalo. In both cases, I think the teams picked up unexpected wins last week. Buffalo's win in week 1 came through special teams (so unlikely to repeat) and over a Seattle team that suddenly look less impressive than expected. Nonetheless I'll take Buffalo predominantly because of the home factor and Oakland having to play 6 hours earlier than usual.

Must I considered it, as Miami seem to have been New England's bogey team in recent years ...

E.g.
- late 2004, 12-1 Patriots meets 1-12 Dolphins on MNF. Dolphins score 2 TDs inside the two-minute warning to win 28-27.
- 2006 ... Dolphins were the last team to beat Patriots before they embarked on their record-setting 21 game-winning regular season streak.

But really didn't think Miami were strong enough yet or able to win by that kind of score. I just saw something about them using a single-wing offense ?!?

I think they did some direct snaps to Ronnie Brown... ah ha, here we are, TMQ was rather enthusiastic:

"At New England, Miami eight times lined up running back Ronnie Brown at quarterback, and it was a delight to behold. Six times Brown rushed, two of the runs being touchdowns... The Miami game plan was magnificently pure high school. Often high school teams line a running back up as quarterback -- my kids' high school team did it three times last weekend. The dynamic is that when a quarterback simply takes the snap and hands off, the offense is rushing 10-on-11. When a running back is at quarterback, the offense is rushing 11-on-11"

Yep, I watched the highlights. It was a thing of beauty..
Pennington lining up as a WR on one side, Ricky Williams lining up wide on the other side and motioning in to give the option fro Brownto hand off to him on a sweep, which they did a few times with Williams breaking away for a whole heap of yards.

The guys on NLF Total Access were pretty enthusiastic as well, calling the tactics 'genious' and they especially liked the fact that the Dolphins brought out those plays against New England.

'Storming away'? I wouldn't call it that. After three weeks, I'm in the lead by 4 games. That's just one and a bit games per week. Still a long way to go.
I'm just taking it one wek at a time, and I couldn't have done it without the help of... You know what. Enough of the clichées... smiley - smiley
