Hi there!
I like this very much! I have a font on my computer named after him
Just one thing... shouldn't 'catholic' in the first paragraph have a capital 'C'?
Well done!

Smart entry, Dr Monty, with just a few comments from me:
"...created during what may, in some camps, be regarded as a mayonnaise-fuelled time-jolly."
A very clever phrase this, but it doesn't really add anything to the paragraph - indeed the use of the phrase 'mayonnaise-fuelled' is only there so that it ties in with the link to an unedited entry - I'd advise removing that line.
Was 'The Brotherhood of Our Lady' a group of monks? Although not every religious order asked their members to obey the vow of chastity, I suspect many readers will be surprised that you draw attention to the fact he died childless (and indeed that he was married in the first place) if he'd become a monk. Perhaps a little clarification here would help - either the order didn't require chastity, or maybe he joined the order after his wife had died or something .
That's really all I could pick holes in, as it's a great collaboration on a fascinating historical figure.

Thanks both.
DMT addeth'd,

So there might be some newly introduced grammar-traps.

I didn't know a lot about this not being a painting person - but I am familiar with some of the works - Didn't Dali do a temptaion of Saint Anthony ? Man kneeling in forground with cross - elongated elephants marching at him ?
Sorry I digress - its a dirty habit but......
1 typo for you Doc. In your para about the mould on fruit you use gangrene when I think you mean gangerous.
Good stuff

This is an excellent entry, but I think it really needs links to sites with examples of his work. For anybody who has not seen Bosch's painting, much of the entry will be meaningless.
You say he changed his name to Heronymous but everywhere else you spell it as Hieronymous. Is this a typo or was his name actually changed again later?

Defanately a speeling mistak.
I suppose the real substance of the name-change was from 'Van Aken' to 'Bosch', so that he distingushed himself from his family.
Jhieronymous to Hieronymous was more pi55 than wind, if you see what I mean, perhaps bowing to southern european preferences.
Need a euro-lingophone ... Spiff!

Links. Yes. There are many, but they seem unreliable, i.e., they may be broken links in the future. I'll check out the Prado (they seem like they'll be around for a bit longer) ...

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

In the 'edited' entry A944453, a number of important esses are missing:
e.g.,
"... during Bosch' lifetime ..."
"It is certain that Bosch' Temptation of Saint Anthony ..."
"... jurisdiction over 'Hertogenbosch."
"... that spawned Salvador Dali' flaccid clocks."
