I think there may be something like that in Brunel skin. Try going to preferences and changing to Brunel, then you get red dots in the corner of each post, which (I think) work for navigation.

Or is that the frames option?

I've got it - select expert user mode (any skin, I think) to give you the dots, which allow you to jump between replies to a posting.

Select frames to give you a box on the left had side of the skin with links to related conversations (Eg about the same entry). This may make it easier to navigate.

To be honest though, I've always managed without either...
