This seems as good a place as any to ask - has anyone tried to create an H2G2 app yet?

I've been looking around for a simple way to turn a website into a simple HTML5 app for a while (part of my job) and came up with a few, but not had the time to look into how they really work yet...

But being around here for a little while recently has made me realise that an App for H2G2.com would be a nice thing to have...

There is a prototype out being tested at the moment smiley - smiley

As you've probably noticed, html5 and apps tend to overlap a lot. You have to really think what advantage there'd be to making a native app compared to just bookmarking the homepage.

There is a new version of the site to come out soon, just a couple of pages left and then some tweaks, and that's a lot more mobile friendly, which brings once more the convergence of the two technologies into light.

Gnomon - time to move on

I'm singing a concert this weekend, but if I get a chance, Pastey, I'll send in the results of some more testing I've done on the new site.

HTML5 apps are what I am pushing my suppliers to deliver at the moment, so an HTML5 version of the site would be a good move!

The new version we're testing at the moment is much more html5 focussed, but still not as much as I'd like, the back end APIs just aren't capable yet. until I rebuild them.

I was wondering if it was worth trying out Appbuilder or similar to try to create an app...

When I can do it by hand? smiley - winkeye

I'm actually using PhoneGap for this app, not sure if you've come across it but it's very good.
