At the moment on the BBC system, you change your nickname using "Settings" which is part of the login system. I think Pastey is bypassing/replacing the entire BBC login system, so let's wait to see what he's come up with before we decide it will be the same as before.

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this in..but I'll try it here.
One of my nagging concerns is that some of us are going to be in positions of power and influence in noohootoo...but we won't have a clue who they are.
How is that going to work in terms of people feeling completely safe in having equality of treatment?

And if this is the wrong thread for this question I'd be grateful if someone could tell me the right one.
I'm pretty confused by the proliferation of these type of threads.

>> How is that going to work in terms of people feeling

There is no such thing as equality in a society that
respects individualism. The trick is to keep smiling
with a stiff upper lip and not let the alabasters drag
you down.
At worst it will revert to a tribal pecking order. A bit
like the earliest civilised societies where even the best
built pyramid schemes could be vulnerable to shifting sands.
Democracy (whether that is a euphemism for majority rule
or the grim reality of safety in numbers or just the basis
for philosophical debate) will prevail.
In any case m'dear, you ought not to worry. You are among
the honoured and respected elders. New kids may laugh at the
warts on your nose but those who know you as Mother Effers
stand in dread of your witchcraft and will bend over backwards
to keep you sweet.

Effers, I can absolutely assure you that there will be no secrecy about who holds what position in Noohootoo.

Good question.
I'm guessing you mean moderation here, but let me know if you mean editorial judgment or something else.
Moderators uphold the house rules. We've been through a lot of consultation to get them right, and to be honest, very little has changed - just some relaxation in terms of languages.
The rules will now be enforced by people who understand the community, and they will have other community stalwarts to refer to in order to get things right. In short, there should be far less scope for misunderstanding where you've not intended to break the rules.

I don't have a stiff upper lip. I'm English first and foremost...not British.
I don't think I'm much of a respected elder by some people.
And yes it's a very real anxiety of mine..and one that is very reasonable to be voiced I think.

They'll all be known.
Personally, I don't really see what difference it'll make, but that's just me, I guess.

That's good to know that they'll all be known...and as noohootoo starts we can email them and know how to. Of course there is this delay.
Yes we'll all have different POVs...hence that gun.

The Interim Community Editors' names can be found here: U14916633.
We will have a group email set up as well, but it won't work until we get the keys to the new site. We'll announce all the email addresses in an... uh... announcement, so just stay subscribed (as you already are) and you won't miss it.

Thanks all for your replies. I feel safer and more confident about things again now.
It was because of this delay..and stuff started to swirl around inside my head to do with some recent problems.
Yes but I'm a friend of the great god Pan it's those pan pipes that always seduce me..

They say the move will be unpleasantly like being drunk, so I might as well get drunk anyway
This is the first of my 16 days off after all, and I will probably not be anywhere near Hootoo till after the move. See y'all on the other side

I'm sure it will all be fine Effers...although Pastey did send a tweet earlier to say he was doing site coding while drinking his fifth pint.
