A headsup up about noesis registration - it sets you up so you get an email notification when a new thread is started - a new thread from *anywhere* on all the forums I'm off to see how to disable that

That's odd - I didn't get that when i signed up. I had to change it to happen so I got notification of the new threads when they started on the community h2g2 section.

I just got an email about a new thread in Movies. I've had a quick look in my user settings and it's not completely obvious what's going on. I'll wait to see what it looks like once I'm in one of the groups.

They did a bit of fiddling with the code this morning so it may have changed.

Hmm. I've never had an email like that from noesis. But I've just added you to the general h2g2 groups on noesis, so maybe that will stop the emails.

I don't know what you did Jordan, but now there are no forums visible at all (not even the public ones) when I'm logged in

Can you please give me a direct link to the forum you added me to?

Yeah, I've just tested that right as you were typing and I've noticed that the setting I've assigned for you doesn't work as it should. Sending an email, should be fixed sometime tomorrow.
I'll undo that for you in the meantime.

Just to let you know that it will only be the Mods and the ACEs that will be migrating to noesis for now. The sort of conversations we are having over at A85850175 are the sorts of things that are best done on h2g2.

Yes, I am getting confused across various threads... but I'm trying to catch up. Then I'll be able to see where I fit in.

Ooh! There's another idea for the tech team... interactive maps that will take you to the desired place (page) and its forums!
I've always visualized hootoo has a place and (pre-beeb) some researchers created actual maps of hootoo with the landscape and structures such as Lil's Atelier, Joanna's Donut Stall, the Waterworks (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A416918?skin=classic), etc.
off to find Pastey.

Nosebagbadger - U14077177 - applying to be an ACE
Hi I've been sent here from the original ACE board (which apparently will be stuck to the beeb)
Is this the correct place to apply to be an ACE?
If so, can i be one? I've been present in h2g2 for a couple of years (minus a couple of months away for hospital/exams) with some entries in the EG and post
Cheers,
Nbb

Give me a day or two and I should have the ACE forum up and running on http://forum.noesify.com
Give me a shout when you've made an account over there and I will add you to the list.
You did apply in the correct place originally, but lil is right; you'd only have to come over to noesis anyway.

Cool, i'l do thatt
I registered over there about 20mins ago, and yet haven't been emailed to confirm it, is this expected (it says 10 mins)? I used the same info as i did here
DO the test words have a space between them?
And i was scared by the maths problem - getting an answer of one really put me off
Does everyone know they have to do basic maths to get into the site?
