I've mentioned it in a techy thread with Pastey as well, and thank you Ben for that. It might bring a few folks back that did enjoy the site and people

I found the digibox users bizarre but fun, the Leisure District folks in particular; rather like having a bunch of hyperactive kittens around the place. I was really upset when the door was shut on them.

Since then I've spent ages writing stuff on an iPad I've come to realise that the tools you use really do affect how you can "talk" on line.

Most did adjust to proper and full 'English' once they realized it was an open site. And there were some really cool people that stuck around, until doors got too tightly closed

With the upgrades to the cable company servers, digi-box just might have now gone too far away to be usable smiley - erm

If there is any possibility, between Kow (and newer handles) and Emmily, I think they'd find a door-way for the digibox'rs

OK! I've done two things.
Number one I've added your names to the Community Editors page as volunteers. smiley - applause
Number two, I've started to come up with things that we can be doing while we wait for the tech team to find out and implemenet the imminent changes. smiley - biggrin

Please feel free to mosey on over to A85850175. It's not fancy, but I hope it will create some fantastic stuff.

Hello friendly froods,
The noesis offsite forum is up and ready for you all. We will be using those sort of in the same way that the Italics have used Yahoo groups.

In order to join the offsite forum, please follow these two steps:

Step 1- Sign up for an account at http://forum.noesify.com/
Step 2- Let Ottox, Vip or myself know the user name of your noesis account and the group(s) you've signed up for. We will then put you into the appropriate user group(s) on noesis, and you will be able to see the corresponding forums.

It doesn't really matter which of us you contact, or how. You can post your user name and groups to this conversation, to one of our personal spaces, or you can email me at "jodantaylor" of the gmail variety of email address. We'll get to you as soon as possible - but keep in mind that things like time zones, w*rk and real life do exist (for some).

My user name is kea.

What are the groups that we might have already joined? Can't see anything about groups on the forum page.

What's the reason for setting up the volunteer groups offsite? Will they be publicaly visible?

There's essentially Community Team, Tech Team, Moderators, Guide Team and Arts/AV. That encompasses Gurus, ACEs, Tech Volunteers, Moderators, Curators, Scouts, Sub-Eds, Photographers, Community Artists and (I think) AV people. The h2g2 forums are only viewable once I've changed your permissions.

Volunteer groups have always been offsite, and never publicly viewable. Some things can't be discussed onsite, for one thing (especially the Moderators group). For another thing, it serves to focus discussions and make it easier to communicate among other volunteers.

Kea, what were you interested in joining? smiley - smiley

At the moment h2g2 is a splendid publicly available forum and should remain that way. The Noesis offsite forum is intended for two reasons.

1. to replace the yahoo groups currently used for volunteers. Or at least give those who want to volunteer for the future h2g2 a space to discuss this away from the current BBC / yahoo volunteer forums. There are things that need to be discussed in private.

And

2. To provide someone to go if there is some downtime on h2g2 especially during the transition, but we are of course hoping to keep that to a minimum. We will let people know as soon as we're in a position to discuss a finalised transition plan.
