Boy!
I didn't realize the extent of Communism in that country!
When my Uncle Bud (now deceased) told us about Cuba, he left out a lot of the 'bad' stuff. He did say, however, that he stayed in a hotel with bullet holes in the walls.

By the way, my Uncle Bud didn't die in Cuba. He died of multiple cancers in a hospital in Saskatoon.
I'm sure people are just as safe in Cuba as they are anywhere else in the world

It's best to travel without small children!
TRUST ME in this.
I think vacations are NOT good quality family time, as more often than not somebody ends up lost, fighting, with a bleeding nose, throwing up at inopportune times (on Customs Officer's feet), or being grounded for life.
Do most of your travelling now. If you want to travel in the "golden years", make darn sure your kids
grow up to have well paying careers, and guilt them into sending you on vacation by telling them that you spent "X" amount of time, money, blood, sweat and tears raising them to be successful, well-adjusted, productive human beings, and they should show their appreciation by giving you a well deserved break!
(I dream big, don't I?)

well thats what we intend to do as we havent got any kids yet !!
and as we have already booked for africa next year we are not planning on it happening just yet
