Hey, yep sorry, I must have dozed off. 'To be is to be perceived' as the good bish said. Heap of humbug, of course. He ended up saying that everything is percieved by God in a somewhat circular argument to prove the existence of God - and things. Since things exist, God must be perceiving them, ergo (oops, Latin again) God exists.

Please excuse the cut and paste, but I love these limericks:
Some like Bishop George Berkeley (1685-1753) denied the existence of matter, maintaining that physical objects exist only through being perceived. So, for example, a tree would cease to exist if no one were looking at it.
Ronald Knox wrote a pair of limericks on the subject:
There was a young man who said, "God
Must think it exceedingly odd
If he finds that this tree
Continues to be
When there's no one about in the Quad."
In reply:
Dear Sir:
Your astonishment's odd:
I am always about in the Quad.
And that's why the tree
Will continue to be,
Since observed by
Yours faithfully,
God.

Can I join??? I didn't know about the guild until today?
My phrase is this:
Golberg's First Principle of Theoretical Semantic Obfuscationism states than anyone with a really simple theory will give it a complicated name in a misguided attempt to sound clever.
Any chance of a link to A793343 ?
