How can I make this better?

I think you could make it better by not suggesting that Guinness is English. You may have drunk it in England, but it is very Irish and proud of it!

Read about Bass Ale and the Titanic at http://www.bassbrewers.com/brands/bassale.asp

Guinness is at http://www.guinness.com/guinness/en/gateway/0,6561,125449_126269,00.html

These are for your further reading and information. You might find them helpful for the entry. They tell you about the history etc. However you shouldn't link to these in the entry because they are not suitable for the young.

Do you know about the Black and Tans? See A698330

In order to progress to Peer Review and then to The Edited Guide, all first person references will have to be removed. Also, I think its not entirely accurate to call it '*The* beer cocktail' when there are so many others, such as light and bitter, mild and bitter, boilermaker, depth charge. 'A beer cocktail' would be better I think.

A couple of suggestions for you:

1) If you put an introduction on your personal space, one of h2g2's official meeters and greeters - the ACEs - will come along and say hello.

2)If you haven't already done so, read about the h2g2 Writing-Guidelines and also Writing-Beginners for plenty of tips and ideas about how to write for The Guide smiley - smiley

OK, I've taken care of the factual and grammatical errors. Everything should be in third person. And I wrote the introduction for my personal space.

Thanks Bels for the links and letting me know that I got Guinness' counrty wrong. The funny thing is that I had a bottle of it sitting right in front of me while I wrote the article, I should seen it sooner.

And thank you Gosho for the suggestions. If there's anything else wrong with this article, plase let me know.

It could be useful to mention that an army regiment, possibly British, are called, maybe nicknamed, the Black & Tans. Time for some researching.I

Dusty... you know that one's going to stick now, don't you Dusty smiley - winkeye

Has a black and tan always been Guinness and Bass? When it was being drunk in pubs and taverns 80 or 90 years ago, there would have been many, many places where Bass wasn't available, so would it have been made with stout and the local bitter, or could it have been made with mild?

Brains Dark should be good enough for the 'black'.

OK OK smiley - smiley Looks like I have some research to do.

I originally just wanted it to be a recipe, then I added a semi humorous intro. Now it's going to turn into something much much more...

Only not that dramatic.

Let's see what I need now:
Brief history of the Black & Tan Army Regiment.
History of the drink.
Variations of the drink.
And some other drink related things.

That ought to do it. I could really make something out of this. Don't worry guys, I can handle this. I'll be updating with a revised and expaned version in a day or two.

Thanks guys!
