i spent christmas 2 years ago many many miles away from my home of Ohio, USA in Scotland with my then fiance and his family. so not only was i away from home, i was in a totally new country (my first time in a plane, my first time in a foregin country, etc..). it was very weird. i had a good time and all, but i still cried on christmas right before i went to bed because i missed my mom and dad. all in all it was an experience i wouldn't change, but it was still very hard. being with paul and his family made it a little better though because his whole family just loved "confusing the yank" with their rather thick brogue ! they made me laugh alot and made me feel at home, even though home was actually miles away.
