What is gundam wing? Its like in Mechwarrior 1-4 (really cool games)

I think gundam wing (a japaneze anime cartoon) was the first thing to come up with the concept of the mobile suit (don't quote me on that). They surpass normal weapons and were used in the battle of Earth Vs the Alliance, lovely animation, lovely plot. There were a very few Mobile suits made of a metal named Gundanium, and these were called the gundam wings.

To my knowlege RoboTech came up with the original idea, Then was gundum and The Fasa cooperation who came up with battle Tech(from witch mechwarrior is based) and that's about all I know.
