I have a eclectic taste in music. Folk, Rock, Rap Country not a whole lot but some. I like a lot of Female Artist like Michelle Branch, The Cranberries, Heart and many more. Not many guys care for Female Artist. I say they don't know what they are missing.
Sorry for the debacle on Lurchers Fan Club my bad. I can't apologize enough for my stupidity.
Well that's about it. Have a nice day Missy.

Hey Kid!
Good to hear from you
no worries about Lurchers Fan club - you have nothing to apologise for
I had a revelation recently as to why my musical tastes were so eclectic. We have a great radio DJ here in the UK when I was growing up - he died recently and you may have heard people here talk about him - John Peel. His legacy to me was to make it OK to like music just because you liked it - you dont have to like things because they are fashionable, trendy, socially acceptable etc - but just because you like them. He did I late night show and played an incredible mix of things. If you are interested you can find out some more about him said far more elequantly than I can here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/johnpeel/
I dont know Michelle Branch - would be interested to hear more about her ...

Oh Michele Branch She's good She plays the guitar and right's alot of here own stuff. She is sort of folk to rock. Her and her band have an ibteresting sound. Her voice has a reall good range. I have her CD Spirit Room. Sadly that the only one I have. No more female artist either. I do listen to them on Lanch video and radio. You ever her of Sara McLachlan. Shes's real good. Hers is a softer folk compared to MB she's more progressive.
When I was on here in 02 I use to listen to BBC 6. They played a mix of old and new music. I liked it then. What happened to them? They'er notthing like they was.

We have just got access to digital TV (like today!) and so now have access to BBC Radio 6 so I will certainly give it a listen
I have heard of Sarah Mclachlen and I think I liked it!

I don't know much about them. Have you ever heard of Big Country. They are an Scotish Band from the mid 80's. Yeah They had on comercial sucess in the states oldly enough titled "Big Country". I find myself drawn more to non-comercila sucess music as in I usually don't follow the pack as it were. I have a CD of theirs made in 95. I like it. I got at a used CD place. What a deal.

Natalie Merchant - thats the name I was thinking of - fab and slightly haunting voice.
I liked Big Country - I did not realise they carried on recording into the mid 90's - what are their later albums like?
Second had CD stores are great - when I visited Gosho in Austin we went to the one he used to work in - amazing place and such great value I have yet to find something like that here in the UK

The CD that I have of Big country. "Why the Long Face" I like it. It has a real Scotish flair to it. Not all the songs mind you. They have a way to make the guitar or organ sould like bagpipes. I've always like music with a celtic flavour to it. I'm 4th generation Irish in this country on my Fathers side. America Indian on my Mothers. Yes I like Indian music too.
What no used CDs stores in England. I wonder why? Heck I've got some great stuff out of them. Music you can't find on the rack any more. They should start one. There all over the place in the states.

I will have to look out for that album!
If you like things with some Scottish Flair, have you come across Runrig?
It definitely seems to be a gap in the market here - not really sure why they are not as prevelant here as they are in the USA. I would certainly buy stff from them - my only challnage would be taking stuff in!

The Sundance Kid(Captain of the Good Ship Necromancer)If Life Gives You Manure, Use it to Fertilize your Garden Posted Dec 20, 2004
I don't think I've ever heard of Runrig. I'll do a search on the web for them. I can get the BBC radio stations on the internet. I watch The BBC News as well on the News homepage. All you need is a Real Player. My RP keeps messing up as of late. So I have to go back and fix it. Still I enjoy the news and stuff. I don't know why but I love an English accent. Especially when spoken by a woman.
Where abouts in the UK do you hail from?
Hey I Like Purple and.....
Lighthousegirl - back on board Posted Dec 21, 2004
I cant put Real Player on the computer I use most - it belongs to work!
I grew up in Hampshire near the south coast of the England, then moved to Cardiff in Wales for 5 years while a student. Then I moved to West of London, then near Oxford and now I am north west of London not too far from a place called Milton Keynes.
What about the English accent do you like? There are so many different ones?
Where about in the US are you from?

I don't know like a proper English accent. Like on the BBC news. I like another one, I think it's called cockney as well. I don't know why but the accent just sounds sexy to me. Maybe I'm wierd. I did'nt realize there was a lot of different accents though.
I live in Memphis Tn. I was born in Selma Alabama. I did'nt live there long as we moved here. I lived in a couple of different places, but I for some ungodly reason I came back here.
I did a search on Runrig I have'nt found any thing I can listen to yet.

We are really lucky here in the UK the range of accents that are available - all part of our rich heritage. The BBC Accent is known as Recieved Pronunciation - and that is probably the closest to my accent. Recently the BBC has started to introduce some more gentle varients of our regional accents but not as strong as they are spoken in the areas.
I dont know very much about Memphis - I have been to the USA 3 times and work with people from over there quite a lot. I have visited New York, Seattle and Austin.
Accents facinate me! I do a lot with a local amature theatre company and in March we are doing a production of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion - the story of a cockney flower girl and a phoneticist who helps her learn to speak like a lady; and the impact it has on both their lives. Its the play that the musical My Fair Lady is based on. Do you know it?

Oh Lass You speak What I call a proper English accent. I can't help I love that. I love to hear a person say Schedual."chedual" That's a personal favourite of mine. Here in the South we have a distinctive accent as apposed to the rest of the country. I personally think that it sounds of low intelligence. I try to speak a midwestern accent. That is what you'll hear if you view Fox or some other news station. In the movies when the actors have southern accents as their part. They usually make it sound so forced and fake. It's a difficult accent to fake. Though it sounds so stupid.
So you'er a Thespian. Wow an Actress. I'm impressed. I've heard of "My Fair Lady. So what part are you playing in the play? I tried Speech if school. That was the name for the acting class. I was'nt very good at it though. At that time I was going through a difficult time of my teenaged years. I was a DJ at the local high school radio station. Still I was'nt Good. I was depressed during those years. I feel I could do much better now. When I'm doing good feeling good as it were. I have the ability to speak publicly with confidence.
I'll try That link you gave me on Runrig. Thanks Lass.

Yep a proper accent !
I used to work with some people from Atalnta Georgia and what got me was the pace (or lack of it in their speech) - I work with people who are always in a rush so working with people who speak slowly was really different!
Errr I need to correct you - I am not a thespian - very involved with the theatre but I dont do acting! I love being around it and do a variety of things off stage - from prompting, to props, to sound and then for Pygmalian I am stage manager - so incharge of everything back stage including the actors during the performance ! My artner OJ is in the play - he is playing Eliza's dad - Alfred the dustman
I cant act either - In my job I have to get up and talk to groups of people and that is fine. I can even get up with a microphone and talk to hundreds - I guess a bit like being a DJ except people can see you. The gang at the theatre and my other half find it realy funny that I can and do do that but wont try on stage.
What I really want to do at the theatre is lean to direct - I am due to get a go at that in the summer and I cant wait
Do you think you will have another go at DJing or acting?
I hated being a teenager - do you think its compulsory?
I am sorry the Runrig link only had a snippit of the songs - but pleased you liked them I am not sure what albums of theirs I have. We moved house recently and so far we have only been able to unpack some of the CD's - we can listen to anything provided the artist starts with a letter before P! I think my favourite song is called something like 'take good care of my heart' its only short but is lovely and makes me feel all sentimental!

My Bad on the acting thing. Sorry. So you'er going to be a Director. Cool. They do good stuff. I was just being a little lame with my speech. I do that I change types of dialog during a post to have a go at cha. In 02 I use to sound like an Aussie, a Brit, and a Yank on different post in a conversation thread. People would ask me where I live. I laughed.
You don't know much about Memphis. Well there's not much to tell. We have Elvis, Fed Ex, and the Memphis Grizzles a NBA basketball ream. What a feckless group of losers. So that about all Memphis has to offer.
I would'nt mind trying to act I'd have to learn the craft. I do a great Igor imitation. You want to see it?
Hey I Like Purple and.....
Lighthousegirl - back on board Posted Dec 23, 2004
Why not!
In the UK its quite easy to find amature drama groups who are willing to let people have a go at acting - giving them support and small parts initially in their plays - is it the same in Memphis?
When I was in Seattle I got quite into NBA Basketball

Yeah We have something like that. I've never investigated it though. I guess I've been to busy with life to fool with it. Working and such.
I was speaking in relation to what vistors to this town and what they want to see. So you like Basketball. I like College Basketball. They work harder for the game.

Thats often the case for many sports - those who are working to make it or playing for the love of the game rather than the big money are often much better to watch
What work do you do?
