If God existed when there was nothing and created the Universe, then does that mean that He exists outside of time? (Assuming we are talking about time as a construct made by humans to assign order to sensory input we recieve - my off-the-cuff definition.) If so, then logically, humans have no free will because if God saw all of the future consequences of creation as He created it, then He, in effect, chose for those events to happen.
Unfortuantely, those of us in our microcosim of creation can't tell the difference between free will and determinism.
I've also read non-religious text that suggests that human personalities are *entirely* a product of environment and genetics. (ie: as you said, our natures) Basically, they are saying that we cannot *not* act as our natures tell us to! Another form of slavery! Do you think that this provides evidence towards determinism?
I liked the organisation of your article. It was well thought out and a pleasure to read... And I do *so* love philosophical discussion!
Fabulous job! Keep up the great writing!

PS: I saw your title and was afraid that you'd already written something on the topic I just posted: The Problem of Evil. Check it out and let me know what you think, if you can! It's called "A Possible Solution to the Problem of Evil (From the Christian Perspective)."

I do enjoy intelligent conversation that I can actually understand
I suppose it always depends on how you define time...because if time existed before humans, then God could have been outside time...but if He created time when He created the universe, He had to be outside time, at least temporarily...ok temporarily is the wrong word! But He could have placed Himself inside Time if He wanted.
Thanks for the positive comments: it's in peer review, and that's been more mixed reviews
I'll check your out tomorrow, when Ive caught up with this mountain of backlog!
[Sorry if its not totally coherent: I only finished a nine hour shift a couple of hours ago!]

Definately no problem. Just last night I had to work until 1:00 am... on a school night! Luckily, since today is Halloween and we were gonna be doing much at my high school, my mom let me stay home and get some sleep.
Speaking of which, I've gotta go hit the hay right now.
Question: How old are you and are you a guy or a girl? I haven't had time to check out your space yet and I'm curious.
I'm a 17 yr. old girl soon to turn 18.

1.00 AM!! Where do they work? In the UK, you can't work past midnight until you're eighteen!
I was 18 in August, and am a guy My space doesnt say much about me though! I'm on a year out at the moment: getting some money for university, and looking at going travelling next summer...

I work in a fast food restaurant and, though I'm not supposed to work past midnight, persay, my boss doesn't give a darn.
Where do you want to travel? (If I could go anywhere tomorrow, it'd be Japan!)

I'm looking to see if I can do a conservation project: I have the choice of Tanzania, Madagascar and Vietnam, above ground or marine projects: choices choices!
If I do do that though, it will meaning having to save loads of money, which means more work at the supermarket: great!
I used to work at Golden Arches! You could do your boss for it: it's v illegal! When I was at [mumble mumble] fast food restaurant, I used to have nine hour shifts, and one fourty-five minute break, and the used to give me it within the first couple of hours, so I had to go eight/seven hours without a break: when I refused to go, they just kept coming back till I went. So, when I handed in my notice, I told the restaurant manager the reason why: he was quite shocked!
