All guidelines met except the third-person one, and the other entry on this subject (I've referenced it) seems like a list of examples and not much else. Feedback would be nice, even if you don't think it's any good.

Hi Catwoman!
I don't think this is going to make the guide in its present form. As you aware, ot needs to be in the third person for thr Edited Guide.
However, it may be suitable for the Alternative Writers Workshop.
I'm interested, would these awards be the Catwoman Opinion Awards?

I agree it's probably not edited guide material. But I agree with you on every single point, when you read a book you get visual imagdges of everything, these will always be diffent from a films, (or indeed everyone else's). If you see the film after the book then it will be wrong, if you do it the other way around, (the film before the book) then you're interpretation of the book will always be influenced by the film...so it's no fun. In addition some authours write in a style that doesn't transilate well to film, eg Nick Hornby, so the films are never that good but the books are alway exceptional.
All of course IMHO,
{I've put a link to this in the bookworms club btw.... [fancy dropping around(shameless plug)]}

Although I don't agree with it all - there are books that make great films, and I end up loving both - and it's not Edited Guide material as it stands, <./>The Post</.> would love it.

I can't help writing in first person, sorry, but it's all my opinions anyway, not info really.
I would LOVE to have Catwoman Opinion Awards, I think there should be a sort of h2g2 oscars, with weird categories like that. (this doesn't exist already, does it, I haven't been here long)

You are of course, mostly spot on, though I can think of one or two movies that are better than the books they are based on-Most of the Connery Bond movies spring to mind, for example.
And I think you left out one reason why things are made:
TO Make Money...
Definitely a good tip to try the Post though.

I thought it was asuumed that making money was the main aim, do really need to say it? The post can have it if they want it but how do I send it to them?
Sorry about replying to different stuff on separate posts, I keep thinking of more things to say.
And everyone shld go to the Bookworms Club. Because I said so.

It goes deeper than that.
What makes a good book often doesn't make a good film. Changes are often necessary to make a film 'run' properly. Books are plotted differently to films, for a start, and can take more chances with plot, style and format than a film can.
If you want to make money with a movie, it has to be recognizable as a movie, not as a book. The best you can usually hope for is that some of the basic ideas are captured. A good example would be Speilberg's adaptation of J. G. Ballard's Empire of the Sun. It's not a very accurate adaptation, and even adds a completely new character. But it's a *good* film that captures the spirit and character of Ballard's book.

A few paragraphs down. It is the first word on the last line.
and that the book doesn't mention facial hair or Body Mass Index - maybe more ***boks*** should take up this practice, it would certainly make life easier for the filmmakers).
Hope that helps

I assume this has made it in the Post, correct? We should probably move this thread back to the entry.

Yep, sure, do that if it is within your power.
(why am I talking like this today?)

My powers are limitless... I can jump over bullets in a single bound, run faster than a speeding building, and stop a taxi with a wave of the hand. Now that I think about it, though, I believe that you have the power within you to remove this entry - just go to the Edit Page for the entry, and click on the button that says 'Remove From Peer Review.' Good work, by the way - I look forward to seeing more of your writing.

Does the conversation automatically move then?
I don't want to kill it, there could be unseen repercussions on the universe.

I think it does... what, you asking me?
I'll ask and get back to you - unless somebody that actually knows the answer gets here before me!
