Please accept this entry. Douglas Adams himself said we should make entries about current issues. It can be updated as new information comes in.

Hiya Marvin, welcome to our wierd little world.
You're right we need to have entries on current issues, I think considering the current situation in the Middle East we desperately need an entry on the Middle East. I'd like to see more on this topic, because you can approach it from so many angles. I'd also like it if you could put a little more in about the history of the conflict. What about the vairous treaties. You might also want to link to A720325 it's a very detailed explantation about an incident that was a result of the Isreali conflict.
I like the style of what you've done so far, and I'm looking forward to your many future contributions to the guide. Good luck
Zed

You forgot to mention the terrorism used by the Palestinans to fight the war. If they had the power, they'd be willing to commit genocide too.
This is an opinion piece that doesn't offer very many facts that inform us of the backgound of the conflict. It's also written in a way that will date the piece. Edited Guide entries should be relevant now and ten years from now. This would fit into sxeveral conversations going on at Ask h2g2 [F19585]. The Hitchhikers Guide to Politics [A703685] has links to several conversations about the subject.
To see what they're looking for in the Editted Guide look at Writing-Guidelines. To check out how to write it, check out Writing-Beginners.

Do let us know when you've amended the entry, Marvin.
Remember, it needs to be grounded, so that a reader will know not only the history, but when the entry was written. Edited Guide entries are meant to be there for quite some time, although there is the facility to update them, when needed.

In the meantime you might consider removing the PR thread (by clicking on the 'remove' link right next to it in the PR-page)
BTW... I agree that writing about current topics should be encouraged. However, I am afraid that even so, an entry should be balanced - this one is not.
Another thing: You illuminate a very tiny aspect of the Middle East conflict, yet you give it the title 'Israel Crisis'. You might think about choosing a less general title, and focus on one specific problem/subject.

Ofcourse I can see how pointless it is to reply to a thread written so long ago, but I feel I must: You, sir, did not bother to do any research on the subject at hand before writing the "Israel Crisis" article, which is as offensive to the Palestinians, I'm sure, as it is to me - an Israeli. For one thing you describe the Palestinians as being weak and spineless - unable to issue any international diplomatic objection to the "genocide" we Israelis are trying to commit and unable to offer any armed retaliation to our supposed "occupation" of their lands.
On this I will educate you sir: they do and they do! If you are not convinced, you're welcome to activating that "TV" device you've in your livingroom, switching it to CNN and reviewing Sahib Arrikat's opinion on the Israeli aggression and Yasser Araffat's reply to Sharon's requests. Also, you may notice the pictures of the buses blown to bits... those are Israeli buses. Only a few hours ago, women and children were living inside them; supposedly this is the Palestinian manner of retaliation to yesterday's helicopter strike on a terrorist leader commited by the Israeli army.
Furthermore: With regard to Colin Powell's mission, sir. You probably don't know this, but Powell's mission wasn't the first and it won't be the last. Please take a look at Denis Ross's failed mission, and he was here for about eight yrs. Supposedly, sir, the Israelis could solve this conflict on their own, had the US kept their collective noses out of it.
And I wish to object to the most ridiculous part of your post: "If this fighting continues, the stronger side will wipe out the weaker one.", no it won't. Because:
a)These are not the middle ages
b)We are not barbarians, and there are only a handful of people in Israel who don't want a peaceful solution (and this IS a democratic country, as opposed to Palestine).
c)It has been long since proven (by Mao Dze Dung in China, on the Americans and French in Viettnam and the Germans in Yugoslavia (the Serbian resistance) for instance) that an centralized army can't possibly win a conflict against organized guerrila resistance.
SO. Sir! Please relax, collect your pacifist slogans into a pile and burn the whole bunch. Next time remember: RESEARCH.
Also, please understand that this was not meant as an insult: you're welcome to write me at my email address [email protected] or simply reply to my post and ask any question you like, for your research. Just next time don't go at it half assed: the Middle Eastern crisis is a serious thing, and should be treated seriously.

Agree with last reply. This article is a factless rant and should be removed. There are many more and better articles on H2G2.
