Natal Chart for Captain Kebab
Sun in Taurus in the seventh house.
You are purposeful, practical, and plodding; all toward acquiring possessions, pleasures, and security.
- Not sure about plodding - the Admiral doesn't think I am.
You must guard against being owned by the things that you own, and holding grudges too long.
- I don't know what the first part means. I don't hold grudges.
Your serious approach to life makes you seem melancholy most of the time. You have to guard against dominating those relationships in your search for higher status.
- I don't have a particularly serious approach, nor am I especially melancholy. I'm not sure which relationships are meant here, and I am content with the status I have.
Moon in Pisces in the fifth house.
Talk about being sensitive! You take the prize. You even know what people think and feel before they do. But that only makes you more compassionate and adds fuel to your fantasies. Try not to be gullible.
- Way off beam - I don't always notice what people think and feel even when they tell me! I like to think I'm reasonably compassionate, however, but I'm not big on fantasies (apart from the usual 'what I'd do if I won the lottery' daydream). Neither the Admiral nor I think I'm gullible.
You like a gamble - financial or romantic. You base your emotional attachments on romantic fantasies that seem to change midway during your affairs.
- No, I'm not a gambler at all, financially or romantically. I don't bet, and I married the Admiral in 1984 after going steady for 18 months or so. We're still together - she says I'm very unromantic.
Mercury in Taurus in the seventh house.
Your thoughts focus on the practical aspects of every issue. You arrive at your decisions slowly, and you stand by them regardless of the arguments offered against them. Try to be less stubborn.
- This is fair comment and applies to me quite well, I think.
You seek out opportunities to work in cooperation with others, preferring partnerships to private practice. You care about the ideas of other people, which makes you an excellent arbitrator.
- It's true I work well in a team, although I was a self-employed sole trader for 7 years. I don't really know if I'm a good arbitrator or not.
Venus in Taurus in the seventh house.
You are a slow starter when it comes to romance. You need someone like yourself who enjoys physical contact and who will reciprocate your fidelity. You love the arts, music, and the things that grow from the earth.
- The first part is probably true (and seemingly at odds with the comments about gambling). I'm not a huge lover of the arts. I like music and play (badly), and I enjoy the garden and my bonsai.
Your emotional needs are soon met in an early and happy marriage. Your financial needs are also met by your marriage, or by careful choice of a compatible partner. You find it easy to deal with the public.
- The early and happy marriage bit is partly true - I didn't marry until I was 27. Our financial needs are met by us both being in work - I don't understand this comment. I am fairly good at dealing with the public, although I don't like it much.
Mars in Gemini in the eighth house.
You have a quick mind and prefer the direct (outspoken!) approach in dealing with people. You enjoy matching wits with a worthy intellectual rival. You are resourceful but restless--sexually superficial at times.
- The Admiral confirms the quick mind bit (it's not for me to say) and I'm fairly direct, but not usually outspoken. I do enjoy conversation and argument with intelligent people - that's one of the main reasons I hang around h2g2. I'm not sure about that last bit - are you saying I'm resourceful and restless in bed, or in general? If in general, then yes I'm pretty resourceful, but not generally restless unless by that you mean impatient. I don't know what 'sexually superficial' means.
You have intense emotional needs and desires. You often get involved in dealing with other people's money, either in legal disputes involving an inheritance, or with the finances in a partnership.
- I'm not sure about the first part here - we all have emotional needs and desires, I'm not convinced mine are unusually intense. The second part of this paragraph is way off - I never get involved in anybody else's finances.
Jupiter in Virgo in the eleventh house.
Saturn in Sagittarius in the second house.
Uranus in Leo in the ninth house.
You can be creative in either the arts or sciences. You create your own social, moral, and professional standards, which you then insist that everyone else must follow.
- This is a bit general, but I can be creative in some ways, although I don't stand out at all in that regard. I do get irritated when I perceive that others don't aspire to the standards I do - doesn't everybody?
You have an independent mind. You can come up with such original insights that it borders on genius. Your enthusiasm can sometimes get out of hand, leading people to consider you a bit of a crank.
Yes, I have an independent mind. I wish I did come up with those insights that border on genius - I don't think I do. The last part is certainly true, I am very enthusiastic about, well, the things I'm enthusiastic about, and perhaps I share that too readily.

I've started a group on yahoo where I can put the chart and the full analysis. I was not very happy with the time it was taking to write out yours with guide ml. Click on the link at A712595.

Okey dokey - you'll find I'm Captain Kebab 2000 on Yahoo (not that there are 1999 otheres, but there's at least one and I didn't fancy Captain Kebab 3 or something). I'll check it out again when I get membership confirmed.
I see your point about Guide ML - it must have taken you ages. If you go to Maw's personal space, U55669, you'll find he has a link to a very nifty little programme for writing stuff up in GuideML.

I've got that prog, still took ages. I also use a program called Selida which allows you to add your own tags. I've added all the GML tags to it.
Alji and off to work I go (12 hour nights)

Wow Alji - you don't mess about, do you? It must have taken you hours!
I'm going to have to print it off and give it a thorough read.

The computer did it, not me! When you read through it give each paragraph a % rating i.e. 0% for totally off the mark to 100% for 'You've hit the nail on the head'. Make a running total and divide by the number of paragraphs.
It might be an idea to do 'The Admiral's'. BTW have you seen how the poll is going

Aww, and here's me thinking you were sitting in a tall tower of a castle, wearing a robe and writing it out with a quill by candlelight, surrounded by crystal balls and bats in cages and ... well you get the picture. There's another illusion shattered!
Well, I didn't really, but I thought it was all done by hand. I must admit I wondered how you were managing to do all these forecasts while working 12-hour nights. What was that prediction about a quick mind?
I shall have a proper look over the holiday weekend.

Alji - I have had a first read through my chart and put my response on Astro-logica on Yahoo. I thought I'd respond to you in detail here, too.
I have only read through it a couple of times - once for an overview, and then again in detail to try and score it. I have tried to be honest, but I also tried to give a fairly immediate response without any rationalisation. I will have another read through with the Admiral and try to be more analytical, and I'll score it again in the light of that - see what difference it makes. I've printed a copy out for Mrs Kebab so she can have a read through without my inteference.
I do want to be as dispassionate and fair as possible - although I am a sceptic, as you know, I'd actually quite like to be proven wrong - I like the idea of astrology, I'm just not convinced that it 'works'.
I actually expected a higher score then I got (45.6% overall) - it 'felt' better than that. Of course I don't know what sort of figure to expect - 45% is the pass mark for many exams, but I'd have hoped for a higher correlation if this was to demonstrate any real accuracy.
It was a mixed bag - totally accurate passages, passages that I felt could apply to anybody, but not especially me, and other passages that could apply to anybody BUT me. As I read it, it was the accurate bits that particularly stood out to me, whenever it rang a bell I thought, 'Aha!' - but there was a lot that wasn't accurate at all.
The parts that didn't feel particularly appropriate, but weren't totally off target either, tended not to stand out until I went through and scored them - I found quite a bit which I figured should score 40-60%
I did think a couple of times of agcB's comments on one of the other threads, where she asked how accurately the predictions could apply to anybody.
Anyway - those are my thoughts to date.
I like your new name - particularly the Welsh bit. I don't speak any Welsh, but I visit North Wales for long weekends, a friend has a mobile home on Anglesey that we use.
I recognise about half a dozen words - including Goch (Coch after other words?) as red? So Draig has to be dragon, and Swynwr is wizard - am I warm? A few words here, a few words there - in about 300 years I'll be able to string a sentence together. Welsh is a very wizardy language, if you know what I mean - Merlin was thought to be Welsh, I heard.
I might be a rational, sceptic type, but I love tales of magic and wizards - and I know that's in the chart - I scored it appropriately!

Could you post the analysis back in yahoo with the % for each paragraph (I don't want to know which parts you think are not you, just the scores). Your translation was right and you probably know as many Welsh words as I do.

Okay - I've done what I think you mean - take a look. If that's not what you meant let me know.

I've looked through your response. how does it compare with the Captain's? It is interesting that the houses don't seem to fit for the most part (I used the 17 century Placidus system for your chart, there are several others.) Mars is ruler of your sun sign and ascendant so Mars will have an important part to play. Check the doc file for strengths.

Okay, now I'm confused.
How does whose response compare with mine?
And what's this doc file - when I opened 'captain.doc' (which was a bit of a trauma in itself - I browse with Opera and download with Getright. My system wanted to download the file and couldn't, then when I managed to open it in Explorer my firewall threw a wobbler because Word wanted to access the net) I just got a stack of calculations that meant nothing to me.
I'm lost.

Sorry! I realised when I got to work last night that I'd put Captain instead of Admiral. The doc file is a bit complex but it shows the strengths for each sign (You could have opened the file from the current location and then saved it to your hard drive).

Aah - that makes more sense. I'll get the Admiral to mark up the printout I gave her - when she does that I'll post it so you can see how it differs. Don't hold your breath though - she isn't renowned for a fast turnaround!
I'll have another look at the doc file and see if I can make some sense of it.

Not only did I get the name wrong, I said Mars was the ruler! I should have said Venus is both ruler of your Sun sign and your rising sign.
