Hey Kat,
Nice entry. A couple of nit-picks, biggest one first. The last line of the table is all over the place - the ages don't follow the sequence of the two lines above.
Wear and tare > should be tear.
Now a question, as a cat owner. My cat is easily 16. He behaves like a kitten, chasing his tail and he is incredibly agile. Now I know that lots of cats his age aren't. (In the wild, I don't know whether they would last until his age.) I imagine that physiologically, it depends on how a cat is treated, rather than genetics, or does it? I don't overfeed my cat and he has a catflap, so he goes out a lot, and I think that makes the difference. What do you think and should something like this go in the entry?

lol thanks.. i hadnt noticed the last line was a bit muddled! will repair that. I checked in my oxford dictionairy over wording 'wear' as opposed to 'ware' and it says ware is a product for sale and that wear is the eroding of or damage to an object over time.. so i am sure i have that right. The way a cat behaves does not generally indicate its age, the ages research were corrosponding to vetinary assessment of a cats physiological aging process rather than behaviour. Many humans act out of charactor for their age (i am proud to be a self confessed member of that group ) and domestic cats often retain kitten behaviour due to their owner exibitting parent cues towards them (i have read about this behaviour extensively as i too found it interesting)If you want to read about this further i can suggest a book by Carole Wilbourn who is a cat therapist, called; The Total Cat - understanding your cats physical and emotional behaviour from kitten to old age. I think you have an interesting point tho and i will add something to the article to clarify my position on this.
thankyou for taking time to look at my submission

Hmm. I got my cat when he was three or four years old and fairly soon, he had learned to jump on my shoulder when I bent down. His original owner was quite jealous, I remember. Now I have to be careful, as he does it without warning.
Know what you're saying about humans - I have a very close relative who is 80 this year and she can do the splits and her hair is still naturally brown, with the odd bit of grey in it. I hope I share that characteristic!

Cool entry! My cat certainly matured fairly quickly and then sort of slow down. How about dogs next?
Re the spelling - according to Roget it's 'wear and tear'.
Could you make the table all line up vertically? I have no idea how to do this, or even if it's possible, but it might look neater. Then again, it might not - feel free to ignore me.

Just wondering if you are sure about the figures in the table. For example:
CAT 15years 16years 17years 18years 19years
HUMAN 75years 78years 79years 85years 86years
As cat goes from 17 to 18, human jumps from 79 to 85. Then as cat goes to 19, human goes only one year more to 86.
I know you probably can't make a proper comparison, but people do like to try, and I just wondered if these are the most accurate figures.
Oh, and by the way, it's definitely 'wear and tear'. 'Tare' has a completely different meaning, and is hardly ever used these days.
Anyway, best of luck with your first Entry.

ello well yes the figures are correct as far as i could tell from the different sources which were all similar in their findings.
In order to obtain one single score for each age i calculated the 'mean' (sum of the ages divided by the number of ages) of the data i collected from each source so there will be some varience over all as the sources did not differ in a constant mannor throughout the ages plotted, although they were close.
i do mention that cats do apear to age more slowly towards the end and that the comparison is not linear due to the nature of their aging process in relation to humans.
However, i think in what is essentially a review summary of eight different charts of data there is bound to be some difficulty finding a way to represent the combined information. I can provide the raw data i used if you are interested in finding a more reliable method of correlating the overal summery?
this seemed the only way to stop the article from becomming overlaiden with data. all help is most welcome
despite this all the data did suggested an irregular growth comparison, throwing out the traditional folklore of a linear relationship, it jus seems an interesting querk showing how differently cats age when compaired to humans

Well written, well documented, and clearly well researched, this is an admirable first entry. Way to go.

Hi there
I have been watching this entry with interest as my cats are barely out of the kitten stage.
I see that you are having a little trouble with your table... I hope you don't mind, but I've had a go at tidying it up for you. To save filling this forum with piles of GuideML I have temporarily put it on a Post page which you can find here: A706187
Just use this link: <./>test706187</.> and copy from to - in other words leaving out the article/subject/guide/body bits
Let me know if/when it works and I can delete it at my end

I like this entry.
I think the table should have only two columns, one for cat and one for human. It would be much clearer. You can see this at A706277 and you can copy and paste the GuideML from test706277 if you like it.

Meanwhile, there's still "wear and tear" to be corrected, unless you really mean "tare", the weight of a container to be deducted from the total to find the weight of the goods contained.
(good entry, by the way )
