A Conversation for Project: Monty Python

Fawlty Towers

Post 1

I'm not sure where it would fit (John Cleese?), but I think Fawlty Towers should at least be mentioned... I'd post this somewhere in particular, but I'm not sure where. smiley - winkeye

Don't worry - there'll certainly be a mention of Fawlty Towers in the John Cleese entry, although it could easily make an entry of its own. Don't suppose you fancy writing one? smiley - smiley I'll include it in the project so it goes straight into the Guide... smiley - winkeye

*the grin-and-bear-it kind of sigh*

Figured you'd ask that... smiley - erm I'm not quite sure. Which are you asking me to write? I think Fawlty Towers would be great, but I don't know about its relevancy to "Monty Python" as a broad umbrella-topic. And I don't know about my own significance as a writer about Python, seeing as I am not nearly so involved, nor have the knowledge ya'll do.... smiley - smiley I'm very interested, but not addicted. smiley - biggrin

So I suppose my answer is, I would write a Fawlty Towers entry (or whatever else needs delegation smiley - winkeye), if you think that it fits well enough under the heading of Monty Python to be included. Or should I do it and submit it to Peer Review for an Edited link?

You're right... I suppose it doesn't _really_ fit into the Python project. And I don't want to force anyone to write anything, honest... smiley - smiley A Fawlty Towers entry should sail through Peer Review - I'm sure there are plenty of fans out there who'd offer helpful 'advice' smiley - winkeye I'm quite happy to write all the Python entries myself (sadly, I am an addict, but I try not to let it show too much smiley - smiley), unless there's anything in particular you want to write. The John Cleese entry? But, as I said, I don't want to force anyone (not that I can, but I don't want to feel like I'm forcing anyone, if you see what I mean... smiley - huh)

Hrm... I could do John Cleese... And have a gigantic section on Fawlty Towers (smiley - winkeye --I've seen all the Fawly Towers, not nearly all the Python smiley - smiley). I mean, what are you including in the biographies of the people? I wish there was an example to look at smiley - winkeye.

*will do whatever Danny B wants*

*pauses*

Well, anything related the Python entry anyway.

So then, just tell me which would be more useful. I'll do either.

*will do whatever Danny B wants*

smiley - bigeyes Such rash promises smiley - winkeye

Have a look at my Graham Chapman entry (A687954), which should give you some idea of what I'm aiming for with the biographies. If you still want to write a John Cleese entry, fantastic! If not, it _would_ be nice to have a Fawlty Towers entry to link to from the John Cleese page (and you sound like that's what you'd rather do anyway smiley - smiley)

In fact, as you'll do whatever I want, I say 'write a Fawlty Towers entry, get it into Peer Review and I'll link to it from my John Cleese entry'. smiley - biggrin

OK..?

Danny B.

*laughs*

I know, I know... I thought about mentioning that, actually, but decided that if you didn't pick up on it
on your own, I wouldn't give you the means to figure it out. smiley - winkeye

*sighs*

I suppose I should do a Fawlty Towers entry... Just because I think I can write that better than a bio. Let me do it this way--I write a Fawlty Towers entry. It goes through Peer Review. If, by the time I am done with that entry, you still don't have someone for Cleese, I'll start on that.

Not quite what I want to do, but I think that that would work best....

Hrm... I liked your entry. smiley - smiley One thing--could you put a link back to the University Project in the References box? At least until the Project is completed? (Will it ever be complete? smiley - winkeye) Just a suggestion--it would make it easier for *my* navigation. smiley - winkeye

*wonders*
What to write now that I've agreed to an impossible task....

Great, I'm glad we've got that sorted out! smiley - winkeye

"could you put a link back to the University Project in the References box"

Good idea - I've done that for all the entries in the project so far smiley - ok

I am planning to finish the project smiley - smiley (although I could probably write about Python for ever - sad, isn't it... smiley - geek) I'll leave the Cleese entry until last, but if you're still busy with Fawlty Towers at that point, I reserve the right to write it myself! smiley - biggrin

*thinks*

I wonder how much time I give the other people who've volunteered before I start prodding them and asking them for entries..?

smiley - cheers

Hrm... How long has it been since the Project started? If it's been a month, you are *certainly* within your rights to start prodding... smiley - winkeye Three weeks even. Good luck making do what ya want them to! smiley - smiley

Okay, so I get to go start a Fawlty Towers entry.. Yippee! smiley - winkeye

In the interests of tidyness I shall confine my reaction as he who has just recieved a prodding to this thread....

smiley - doh You know what, it almost entirely slipped my mind...
Not entirely though smiley - smiley

I got a bit distracted though- wanting to write a few entries on ozone layer. Shall start writing SOngs of Python in next two days though, I promise (will keep me sane as I crawl my way though the insane complexities of out planets atmoshpere), and will have it finished before I die (touch wood).

Yes, sorry about the two threads thing (Arthur 'Two-threads' Jackson, anyone..? smiley - winkeye)

Don't worry about the article; it's another four weeks until the first (of many, no doubt smiley - smiley) deadline.

Oh, the Fawlty Towers entry is at A701894 (although I've noticed that I've been linked! smiley - bigeyes)

I want to ask here too, to all 3 people who are subscribed smiley - winkeye--whatever happen to Zum letzten Kliff, the German version of Fawlty Towers that was announced in '01? That's the one last bit of info I would like to have before I can throw this one into Peer Review....

Fawlty Towers

Post 18

Danny B

I'm afraid I can't help you with that one - I didn't even know they were planning a German Fawlty Towers. The mind boggles... smiley - smiley
