Because yours isn't the only entry in PR that's ready to be picked. But since this little flurry of emails has bumped the entry up to the top of the PR conversation list, it's now back under the noses of Scouts who have recommendations to make. You might just turn out to be the squeaky wheel that gets the oil, although most Researchers will do it with a simple 'bump' post, rather than getting bent out of shape about it.

I wasn't getting bent out of shape I just asked what was happening and why if scouts are in here, they couldn't recommend it

Since Emmily had posted a perfectly good explanation of why your entry hasn't been picked yet, the tone of your post (no. 80) came across to me as rather petulant.
And as far as why it hasn't been picked yet is concerned - there is a finite number of Scouts and each one has a finite number of monthly recommendations at their disposal. If the other Scouts have (as I do) a folder in their bookmarks containing potential picks, they will have a list of around 20-30 entries, some of which will be ready and some of which require further work. I make it a habit to pick the oldest entries that are ready from my list, so there may well be other worthy entries in the queue ahead of you Cal - other authors who have been waiting longer than you to get their entry picked. PR didn't begin the day that you submitted this entry.

I'm sorry if my second question seemed unreasonable to you, but since there were scouts in this thread I just assumed they would recommend it, hence my second question and yes I am quite aware that pr did not begin when I submitted my entry. I also have no idea why you have decided to become quite so abrasive.

I think most people around these parts will tell you that abrasive has always been my middle name. But that doesn't mean I'm always abrasive - I treat people as I perceive them from post to post.
There are Scouts in every single PR thread (or at least there are in 99% of all PR threads), but their presence doesn't mean an automatic recommendation within a set time. The fact that you are questioning why it hasn't been picked yet *just because there are Scouts in the thread and because there have been no more comments* suggests to me that you have expectations regarding how long it should be before an entry is recommended. But there are no such times and/or deadlines posted anywhere on any page to do with PR. It happens when it happens.
This entry *will* be recommended by a Scout (it might even be me if no-one else gets to it before my next picks are due), but it hasn't been yet because there are mostly likely other entries that have been here longer, because not every single Scout is in every single PR thread, and because Scouts occasionally have their eye set upon one particular entry and will pick it even though there may be older entries that could be recommended. There is no timetable for an entry's recommendation - it depends on how many other good entries there are in PR and whose turn it is to pick during any one particular week.

Cal, I'd love to pick this - but my turn was only two weeks ago, so it's another two weeks until I can. There are a lot of entries that are worthy of picking, and actually three weeks is not that long for an entry to be in Peer Review - especially if you remember that, if I got a reminder today, my choices might not actually get accepted for anything up to another week. All of my entries have spent around 4-6 weeks in PR, so patience really is the name of the game!
Yes, we're watching and circling like vultures but are bound to a calendar! I'm sure it won't be long before it's plucked, mate

Bound by a calendar?
I'm sorry but this makes no sense to me, as ACE's we are told to push the edited guide in our welcomes to encourage people to write for it because apparently not enough entries are going through. Well if scouts are bound by a calendar, as you say, I'm not surprised.

The Scouts timetable is a four week cycle. All Scouts have a date in that cycle - one or two Scouts per day - when they should make their two/three picks. It's a good idea as it stops everyone bunching up and picking stuff that might not be ready. It also ensures an even flow of entries for the italics to deal with. For myself, my picks are due in in about 2 weeks time.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
