Hi Ben
*God likes crocodiles! That's why!*
Does that mean that God also likes cockroaches?? if so, do you know why??
Goodnight

MaW: Congratulations!
P-c: from a much earlier posting:
" Fathom:
Fathom, d'you think you could be a little more friendly in the way you express yourself? It looks like Az has 'left the building', feeling unwelcome.
Pattern-chaser "
I'm really sorry if I offended anyone; the 'goodbye' comment was not intended to be anything other than humourous.
However I have received a few less-than-frindly replies since joining this forum myself:
"
You are correct [1].
Pattern-chaser
"Who cares, wins"
[1] Where "correct" is used to mean "mistaken". ..."
and:
" I'm sorry, Fathom, but this is offensive claptrap. You may not believe it, but that's no excuse for rubbishing it. "
And as a new member I think you could have been a little more welcomiing. Still if you don't want me here ...

hi Fathom,
Now don't *you* start getting all over-sensitive. Besides, that's *my* job.
I think when one is new on a thread it takes time to develop some trust with the other longer-term members. So how about, rather than feeling hurt or misunderstood, or hurling any new accusations, that we just take a deep breath and go back to our corners and come out 'being excellent to each other' as someone previously suggested.
az
ps - thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding, though perhaps next time you are joking you can use one of these - - to make that a bit clearer?
Don't go ....
Madent Posted Jun 16, 2003
On the contrary, Fathom, we LIKE new members and we want to keep them. Please stay.

Not having access to all the books, or the urge to trawl through them in the search of this mention, I ask you nicely. What are they?
*Looks at the shelf* Need more Pratchett. But I'm a borrower first and a buyer second.

Well, that certainly made no sense at all to me. Don't leave, Fathom! I don't want to be one of only a few new members, I'll be all lonesome. And especially P-C needs challenging. No offence P-C.

GTB: *Christian Who Cannot Resist a Little Sinning", eh? You mean there's another kind?*
Jane: Well, yes actually, those who don,t and those who do!!!
I'd be surprised if there's any Christian who doesn't sin, but then, when I was one, I had a particularly strong interpretation of the word. I mean, who doesn't run into one of the Seven Deadlies, at least once a week or so? (A827291 - good entry)
There are plenty of non-Christians who don't sin, but that's because their world doesn't contain the concept...

I like this one too (you might want to try this one out Jane )

I cannot remember which book the Yen Buddhists are in, and they are only in a footnote anyway. It is in one of the first half-dozen or so, I do remember that! It is just a throw-away comment.

GTB Hi,
Only once a week????
Az: I do try and sin very, very bravely, it,s much more fun!!!!! yes, sin does indeed limit the consciouness, after all, whatever is good and lots of fun is sinful, whatever is breathtakingly boring is good, and not in the least bit sinful!! rather like food and drink really, all those good things which I enjoy, beer, wine, chocolate, cheese, cakes etc., pile on the kilos, whilst all the boring things like lettuce leaves, low fat everything and going to the gym and sweating, leave the body, subtle, beautiful and glowing!!!
Oh, what a weak woman I am............

Thinking about it though, as a Christian, I really do get fed up with having to apologise for myself, we are taught that we are such dreadful sinners and that we have to ask God constantly for His forgivness. If God made me, knows exactly who I am, realises my weaknesses and wanted me to be the person that I am, He really shouldn,t expect me then to turn around all the time to say "sorry"!!
Does that make sense to any Christians out there??? or anyone at all??

Jane, you have very neatly summed up one of the main reasons I am not a Christian!

Care to expand, Fnord?
I'll reserve judgement on that. Do I have reason to be offended?
