I can't say about the rest of the UK but I belive that change has taken place in London & taken firm hold. I also must maintain that hear the term 'Police Service' used far more often these days than 'Police Force' and in the end its usage that counts.

They've had a little thing about that going on for almost a decade in Austin, Texas. Wiped out three police chiefs in the wrangling about political and public relations directions while the boys and girls in blue go about their business, believing they were born to the job.
It doesn't matter what you call them, they're probably due for a vacation.

Hello MaW, hello all. I've just read thru this thread, and I'm just dropping in to let you know that I'm the Sub and therefore the one you should talk to if you have any changes, corrections, or whatever.

...so feel free to check out the progress of your Entry. I haven't done anything yet, except for an intial check of the GuideML (which was fine, of course).

I do have one question. Did you have any trouble with the link to the Special Constabulary Forum? I ask because the Entry got Moderated over that link, and the email told me the link was broken, but when I tried it, it worked just fine. Is it very reliable, in your experience?

Anyway, I'll be working on the Entry over the next few days, I expect. It doesn't look like there's much editing I have to do, except for deciding between the words 'force' and 'service'.

I've not known the SCF to be unreliable, it may just have been bad luck it got checked when it did - I had that happen to one of the links on my site when it was going through a tricky patch. I did think of providing the URL for the Delphi Forums site where the discussions take place, but they recently changed all their URLs, and I don't think it would be wise to point there anyway, as there's no telling when Delphi might change their URLs again, or indeed when the SCF might move to a different forum service.

So it's the best we can get, but I could see if I can get in touch with Steve, who's the site host, and see if they've been having problems lately.

I have every confidence that you will sub the Entry professionally and to a very high quality. And of course the GuideML was perfect!
