Since it's RTD all the way to the end of the series now, I'm expecting the plot arc to become more important.
We still have the mysterious unnamed episode to come, as well.

She can't be Jack. They did that big reveal that he was The Face of Bo, which died on New Earth in that "endless traffic jam" episode. He/she can't die twice.
Unless The Face of Bo regenerated into Song...
I agree this episode was very good ... but not as good as the first part. It was a nice ending too, although I didn't get until just now that the others with her were the other members of the crew. It did confuse me that people kept saying "nobody dies" and I was remembering all the stripped-down skeletons wandering around.

Face of Boe can't regenerate, and that's a fact. I wouldn't think that Jack had the brains to do anything like that anyway. No offence.

Wolfsubzero Posted Jun 10, 2008
And apparently a Time Lord only gives their name when they die or, possibly, if they get married.
Dr Who.
eloisa Posted Jun 10, 2008
I was fairly certain that the fact she knew his name meant that they had been married. I don't think she's anybody else other than herself. They will meet in the Doctors future and get married and all the while he'll know how she's going to die.
Oh, and? Spoilers! Loved that.

>a Time Lord only gives their name when they die
Where does that come from? I haven't heard that.
The implication was that they were married - but then again it would be typical RTD to *imply* something and then reveal the truth to be something quite different.

Come on then, someone's got to ask....
..what do you reckon his name is?
I realise he probably hasn't actually been given one, but that needn't stop us.

eloisa Posted Jun 10, 2008
Hang on though, don't we know Romana's real name? Don't make me spell it! Did she get married? Did we see it? Or is that another theory out the window?

Bright Blue Shorts Posted Jun 10, 2008
I thought timelords were able to recognise each other regardless of regenerations. Now obviously the continuity of the series is probably a bit dodgy on that one, but I'm pretty sure that's what was said in The Armageddon Factor ... Theta Sigma indeed ...

Xanatic Posted Jun 10, 2008
If they did get married, perhaps she took his surname and he´s actually called Song.
Dr Who.
Wolfsubzero Posted Jun 10, 2008
Or it could be more like Araskon Digheda, or Lance Yesugei Xlors Phoenix (wait, he can't use that, it's mine)?

Though they wouldn't *actually* tell us his nane would they? It's one of those eternal mysteries. It'd be like killing of all the Daleks for real. It's spoil it.
Something tells me the Doc and River don't marry. Just doesn't seem right. What about Rose?? And there was stuff said about how she came when he callled or something that didn't sound like a married couple. Surely if they were married, they'd be together and there wouldn't have been that seperation.
Thought maybe she'd turn out to be his and Rose's daughter or something, since we've had hints about Rose coming back and the Doctor's fake daughter story, might be a change for the real thing.

Wolfsubzero Posted Jun 11, 2008
Could be the Face of Boe's daughter though, not sure why he'd trust if that were the case though.

RTD said they wouldn't reveal his name, because that would ruin it. I immediately thought of Morse (whose first name was a complete mystery for 10 years and then revealed as 'Endeavour') and I'm with RTD on this one.
I was going to suggest that perhaps Prof Riverdance knew his name because she's his mum and she gave it to him ... but that wouldn't really work, would it?

Ok, the interaction between them, the banter and the way she looked at him? This is not a parent/child thang. This is a grown-up, physical relationship he's got to look forward to. Sorry if that upsets people but this is obviously what is being implied!
Dr Who.
Type History Posted Jun 11, 2008
You never know with RTD, maybe he wants the Doctor to have an incestuous relationship with his own mum. Handcuffs and all.
Dr Who.
Mol - on the new tablet Posted Jun 11, 2008
No no no, I don't for a second think that she's his mum ... I was thinking of reasons why she might know his name ...
