I missed the last Torchwood, so I stopped reading this thread to avoid spoiler. I'm now 204 posts behind, but I'm getting it on DVD for Christmas, so presumably I'll be able to catch up then.
Carry on.

Thanks for that link, BBS. Very interesting. Will have to listen to the radio broadcast on Saturday.

I'll get my kicking in early: I thought that was absolutely atrocious.
There were a few small points that made me smile such as the Ood, the picture of the TARDIS in the stained glass window and Wilfred but the rest was abominable.
I can't get over how bad the Master was: first of all him being brought back by a magic potion, Lucy killing him except she didn't, him going all superhero, the TARDIS with all its new toys.
RTD has completely lost his mind. I doubt I'll watch the New Years Day episode and just wait for Moffat to restore some sanity to the series.

I'll need to rewatch it before I can judge it properly, as I missed most of the first half due to cooking my Christmas dinner (I was late getting back from visiting mother ). Consequently, didn't really pay it too much attention as I'd like to watch the whole thing. The bits I saw though looked a bit John Nathan Turner. Don't want to ruin it for those who haven't seen any of it yet so I won't pick over any bits of what I have seen.

It's such a relief you're still living in Wrongsville, Reefgirl.

Ok ... it wasn't just me then. Christmas Day specials are meant to be there for everybody, not just the fans. And even as a fan, I didn't really have a clue what was going on ...
Midway through ... I suddenly thought ... Gollum ... my precious ...
Also what was all that with putting a voiceover in there?
Technically I couldn't hear most of the dialogue. Not sure whether it's my hearing, the digital, the TV or bad production.
Have to say the saddest part is that I can't even be bothered to try and anticipate what'll happen next week, or pick holes in the plot. I just don't cares about any of it. Shame because David Tennant has been brilliant in the role, and his acting has been brilliant particularly in TWatOMars.

i noticed that about the sound as well
sat there straining your ears trying to listen to it
the dialogue was too low and the music too loud
the kids moving around the room wiped out whole reams of talking

Bright Blue Shorts Posted Dec 25, 2009
"the dialogue was too low and the music too loud"
Good. It wasn't just me and my advancing years then. Worst part of that is there's no obvious way to rectify it. Turning the volume up just makes the music even louder than the dialogue.

Interesting comments.
We all thought it was excellent here and can't wait for New Years Day.
Hopefully though all the crying took place in the cafe!
Sound seemed fine to me too.

Well I enjoyed the programme, and I also liked Stargate Atlantis.

I enjoyed it mostly, though I think the Master should have been a little less crazy. I think it got better towards the end.
