So of course you mean that school boys shouldn't either...of course I suspect a whole publishing house would fall if they all stopped..

Oh, I dunno. Remembering there is such a thing as the sixthform, containing healthy you females that have turned 18 years old.

Still, I remain shocked that no BBC staff as reported back, on haow working there is so great, it could not be any better if they were on a holiday. Then again maybe they are all busy looking for houses in the Manchester area.

So what happens if you have to have a day off for something? In my training days I either had to book a week's leave to get my day off or pray that I didn't get a teaching assignment that week (no terms so couldn't plan things for breaks). For example, I've seen a trend on the wedding website I read for Friday weddings (because they tend to be cheaper* and more available), if your was getting married on a friday would that mean that there is no way you could go?

A day off for a family event would be unlikely since the school would either have to pay a supply teacher to take your classes or ask your colleagues give up their own precious marking and preparation time.
I've known people take a Friday off for their own wedding though!
It really depends on the school and what lessons need covering. I teach 6th form, who don't get covered and I want to take a day to go with my own daughter on a uni visit. This could actually count as work since I'll talk to the admissions tutor and get to look round a campus. But I have to cancel lessons, so parents of students I'm preparing for important exams might have a legitimate complaint.

What I've done is I'm getting my friend to get all the things I want to buy people on her way to my house. Thereby meaning that I've only had to step out the house once to get HER present! Easy as pie! Besides...that's what the internet was made for...shopping

I usually buy a lot of gifts on the Internet. That came in handy a few years ago, when I came down with shingles a couple weeks before Christmas, and couldn't get out shopping for the next ten days. I had already ordered a lot of stuff online, and it saved the day.

It's also excellent for people who aren't allowed out of the house with good reason - I can get stuff for my parents online without them figuring out! My dad will punch in the credit card while I get things for my mom, and vice versa. No one needs to go out on 'secret expeditions'!

The secret is to be waiting by the door, and get the packages. If the intended parent sees the package you say it's for a friend or it's music books or something.
