The H2G2 Editors

Just in time for Halloween, we're proud to unveil three new desktop wallpapers, designed exclusively for h2g2 by Community Artists Amy the Ant and Wotchit. You can download them at the Wallpaper page - A1136242.

Be warned. They're not suitable for people scared of spiders, bright glowing faces or rampaging smileys. Be afraid... be very afraid...

I would like to add my praise not just to the CAs (who I know have been throught some trying times recently), but to Natalie and Jimster - I had some serious doubts about the future of h2g2 after the 'reshuffle', but they are convincing me that we are very much alive and active. smiley - cheers

Apart from the images being very nice indeed -- when will h2g2 finally switch to PNG? Those 76 colour GIFs are not very pleasant really.

Well observed, SEF. As explained when we first launched the scheme, the restriction to GIFs was so that the graphics would be compatible for another project. As that project has been shelved for the time being, we've allowed JPGs to be used as well.

Glad you all like the new wallpapers (and that some people are discovering them for the first time too smiley - cool ). The aim is to keep this project going with updates as and when the artists fancy.

smiley - cheers

Gnomon - time to move on

They're rather small, aren't they? I use a 1280 x 1024 screen and the 400 x 400 wallpaper looks rather lost in the middle of it.
