We've got a half siamese cat. You can really tell. If she wants something she just sits there and look pretty.

yeah Oskar is pretty good at that too, until he forgets that he is trying to look beautiful and pounces around like the kitten he is!

Our cat's got a cat-flap, but she'll just sit outside the back door 'till she's let in.

well yes.. one wouldn't want to demean oneself by using a cat flap when one can have the door opened by a slave who has nothing better to do

You should see the dirty looks we get when we dare to sit up late when the cat wants to sleep.

My friend's cat Wharfdale passed away last year. 
I remember looking after her as a kitten - she was born in a city flat, but at about nine months old my friends moved away to a country cottage. On, I think, the second day there, I was sitting in the living room and noticed Wharfie's tail just flicking in through the doorway. Slowly more and more of the tail became visible, then the body, and finally the whole cat - crawling backwards extremely slowly with her head low against the floor...?
I took a closer look - there was a small black beetle crawling across the carpet, and the cat was slowly backing away from it!
After about a month she acclimatised to country life and started leaving small, bloody "presents" in the hall with the best of 'em.

Well, the grasshopper does survive. It goes: cat sees grasshopper, sniffs at it, grasshopper hops, cat jumps backwards in surprise, and starts sniffing again.
