I've read all of the SoT books, and they're great. I just wish he'd write them a bit quicker. I don't remember thinking that any of the ones in the middle were of a lesser standard, and although sometimes Richard can be a bit heroic for my tastes, I still love them.

I didn't like Blood of the Fold very much... what was odd was that the series has shifted direction quite a way - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I just found the freshness of Wizard's First Rule to be quite fantastic. What is needed, I think, is something new again to bring that back - although the cleanup from what Richard did to the Old World might take quite a while
And yes, I do want him to write them a bit quicker! He's as bad as Robert Jordan when it comes down to it (who's on at least 18 months to write book ten of Wheel of Time - should be good though).

Oops, almost forgot - I wish Richard would learn how to use his gift properly. Yes, it's supposed to be instinctive, but you'd think by now he'd be better at the little things, like making light, lighting candles, cooking food (I loved the bit where Zedd accelerated the cooking of the stew!)... he could be so useful around the house!

I liked BotF cos it had torture and stuff in it, wrong of me probably!
You're right about Richard, it does seem weird that he discovers the new stuff like turning the sword white, and doing instictive stuff in fights, like when he fought all those people when he picked up his 'wife' when he was with Verna, but can't feel his own magic. Maybe that'll be explained later in the series.
Spookily, it scared me when it said he sleeps with his eyes open as he's a wizard, my son has done that on and off since he was born!

Oh, Blood of the Fold is pretty good. I just preferred the others. I did rather like Melissa's obsession with bathing in Richard's blood...
And the Mord-Sith, of course, are fantastic.

I like Mord Sith too, but they don't get used enough now. It would be good to see them capture more bad guys. Never mind, they are the people I stole the idea of dressing in red from. Only virtually of course.
