Is there a quiz?
Bagpuss Posted Jan 5, 2006
Just testing whether I could doublepost. I'm sure it used to have a pop-up message reading "Please do not press this button again," but that seems to have gone.

Say, was there a jargon word for people who fill a thread with lots of their own posts all in a row?

You can doublepost, because the system is so cranky . But you're not meant to be able to doublepost.

No, a flamer would be someone who goes round calling other people "spammer".
Spammer's probably right - its original sense was filling bulletin boards or newsgroups with postings.

Oh - but you asked for it, didn't you ? I'm really glad I'm not too good with this terminology, it does tell something about the site, don't you think ?

Maybe, but half of that stuff is fairly typical on the internet. In fact, when it comes to l33t speak and TLAs, you hardly ever see them around here, but try your average message board elsewhere and you're liable to be deluged with them.
And surely a few in jokes never hurt anyone.

Don't know about the rest of the internet, don't go to chatrooms or messageboards
Roymondo, have we caught you admitting that yours is a joke ?

hello again...just thought I'd say...if you put the same message across loads of boards or repeat postings on a board it is known as 'Spamming'.
In 'chat Rooms', where things constantly scroll it's known as 'Flooding'...
Double postings only occur if the server plays up,you can't physically double post unless copied and pasted in which case it's deliberate and could be modded.

Pardon B'Elana? My chatroom or message board? Oh, I see. I don't *remember* anybody laughing, apart from when my glasses are strategically placed. We are talking about guitars aren't we?
Key: Complain about this post
