Hello - I got good enough grades to reapply for English; just got to hope that Oxford take an 'A' in art seriously...

Ooh, you got your Art results already? My friend has to wait until tomorrow for hers... which is nerve wracking as it's the decider as to whether or not she gets to Some Posh Art Place wot I've temporarily forgotten the name of.
Ye gods it's midnight. I should go to bed. Now.
Congratulations Everyone

I was annoyed about the art - not because I thought I'd failed, but because I've always wanted one of those certificates saying you've got the highest mark in the country, and I got 100% in my art exam... but they don't do them for art, apparently... grrrr....

well done everyone! i'm happy about my results too, got my highers back on tuesday. which was somewhat nervewracking cos of the exam board sending everyone the wrong results last year!
and despite the fact that i have never got an A in maths, ever, i managed to get one this time!!
i'm applying to durham as well.... am actually considering venturing out of scotland to go to uni!

We'll have to meet for a drink at the beginning of term...

One of my friends was gonna go to Hull as his insurance... but sneaked out of UCAS to get to Birmingham instead
I seem to be the only John Hampden lad going to Durham this year... which is really weird. At least I haven't heard of any more heading there
I'm going through mood swings at the moment. I alternately panic that I'm gonna hate uni/not fit in/not be able to cope and then feel happy and excited to be going there.

You'll love it! Unless you hide under your bed all term and don't make the effort to go and meet people, but I'm sure you won't

J'au-æmne Posted Aug 18, 2001
Only two people from my year went to Durham, so I wound up with an entirely new complement of friends...

Ooh, this is all very exciting.
I love socialising and making new friends - but it seems the "big event" for Freshers at Bournemouth is some awful week of different types of equally poor dance music run at various Student Union clubs. Ugh. I'll have to try and find some sort of viable alternative - I can't be the only one to loathe garage, R'n'B and so on.

You're welcome here, Dastardly. How'd you do? (that's "how did you do?", not "how do you do?". It's not as if I'm a posho or nuffink.)
Congratulations Everyone
Peregrin Posted Aug 18, 2001
Ah yes, the traditional Fresher's Event. It happens at all unis. But it's quite good really, because all the brain dead bimbos and drunks go to it, leaving the nice people wandering around the halls and going elsewhere.
