Ah... that one never gets old.
I don't make resolutions. If I want to make a positive change in my life, I'd rather make it when I realise it needs to be made. I mean, if I realise that my trousers are a bit snug, why wait until January 1st to start dieting or excercising? It's just a date.
I can see people deciding to take new year's day as a good time to start some new regime in the hopes that they'll have a lot of people silently suffering alongside them, bit of comeraderie maybe, but I prefer to start the new year without a weight abruptly on my shoulders. What kind of fresh start is that?
I might resolve to learn auld lang... auld... that song as a party trick, perhaps.

Mmm... there's sound thinking in what you say there. Perhaps NY resolutions are just part of the emotional version of the boom and bust cycle?

Totally agree with you about not taking on unnecessary problems and being adaptive to what is happening in your life when it is occurring.

Health spas and gyms count on those impulses, they *love* January and May, it's when they get the most sign-ups..

Ach, don't remind me. It was hard enough to get a treadmill on peak in November. If anyone else joins, they're going to have to ask us to start taking a number.
