I agree; there is a line -- sometimes quite fine -- between influence and plagiarism. Radiohead avoids crossing the line into plagiarism by virtue of [a] obvious use of the ideas and [b] creative use rather than mere parrotting of them.

I might even go so far as to apply the word "homage" to their use of H2G2.

Now -- just for comparison's sake, so we are sure we know what "plagiarism" really is, let's compare the tune of George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" with the tune of 10 years earlier to the Chiffons' song, "He's So Fine" (by Ron Mack).
