2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Jul 2, 2006
Differnt sounds, even on the electric front; Lodger is a good case in point; He's got the 197?'s Fender strat he bought new back in the 70's and the fender telecaster that he bought a few years back, some stuff you just can't play or get the right sound on one but can on the other, and simularly he's got the handmade (steel strung) macavelly (however its spelt) style acoustic, which is great for a whole load of stuff, and then the nylon strugn classical/Spanish guitar, which is the only thing that that style of flaminco/Spanish playing either sound right on or indeed can be played properly on I myself have an odd collection of fairly* decenish guitars that I've built up over the years, the Honer bass (which is actually rather good and suits all my needs as a guitarist for the bits of bass I record etc.,), the yamaha acoustic/electroacoustic which I liked at the time but since playing better guitars now loath, then I've the yamaha pacifica I bought by accident when I went to buy a new amp, which is my main electric now, though I'd prefer to buy a new strat should I ever get the £1K for the one we borrowed off a friend for a while and which I fell in love with then I've an old b beaten up Washburn tonewood that has a nice sound to it, but isn't relaly anything special, was my main guitar for a few years till I busted it (now repaired it but haven't got round to sorting out the intination yet), In addition I've two more bass guitars that cost vertually nothing and which are in various states of spare bits and nearly put back togetehrness Also I've the Fender Strat which currently I've given to my Brother; should be a great guitar but just isn't Currently I'd like to sell the pacifica and the washburn and the electroacoustic and get a decent steel strung acoustic and the Fender reissue USA Strat of the type we had on loan if only what I'd get for selling em would cover the cost

...and I was only being light hearted when I asked why you would want more than 2...
I know that you'd want a variety of sounds. But some people can't run to the cost, I was just saying generally really..
Has anyone got that DVD yet?

I found out about it on the www.queenpluspaulrodgers.com
site (hopefully that link will work) mind you, didn't catch the release date for it, maybe its not out yet.
Sorry about the guitar ramble, my fault, I started it. Was trying to hint to the others to drop it, cos I think we either scared everybody off, or bored them to death, whoops!
Is it me or have a lot of people on hootoo been v. grumpy lately? A lot of people I have random conversations with, and who usually get on fine have been at each others throats (not you, btw) must be the heat.

I've been grumpy as a tortoise with a hash leaf painted on its shell of late...
As an aside: if any of you like the outlandish pomposity of Queen from '73-'76 I recommend the new Muse album. Overstated bombsatic pomposity in abundance. It's great!
RE: guitars. Guitars are sex, love, purveyors of treasured moments and suppliers of shared sensations. You can never chat too much guitar.

Oh for an edit function:
I've been grumpy as a tortoise with Cilla Black painted on its shell of late...

Well either way, I think any tortoise would be grumpy with it painted on its shell.

yeah.
Have to say I'm not massively keen on the stuff I've heard from Muse, but maybe it grows on you, I dunno.
Heard Those Are The Days Of Our Lives on the radio yesterday. God that song always makes me Hopeless isn't it? but the thing I love most about Queen is just when you're feeling sad, there's always another Freddie song with something lighthearted in it that makes you smile
