Excuuuse Me?

*nods*
After all, if people'd wanted a game of cless, there's a h2g2 chess society, as far as I know. Roleplaying's fun, and in order to stay that way, it ends up fuzzier and rounder than something logical like chess. You need to know the person you're playing with as a person, which is part of the reason why myself and krans end up together quite so often in forums: we know each other outside of h2g2.
There are a lot of childish people around, and "continuity" seems to be an excuse for them to complain about not getting their own way: (...see if this makes sense...) whilst some people're happy to have others do what they wish to them, and leave individual freedom be since they trust others, others both maximise their OWN individual freedom, and limit that of others, by the strict adherence to the principle mentioned, maintaining that the outcome of other peoples actions has to be down to them.
Culturing a character is fine, but it seems to me that "continuity" is too often taken as an excuse for people to do what they want by using a set of rules to mediate how powerful others can be. Admittedly, the principle behind them is at least partially rational: explaining it, as you have, by using the word "risk" is an excellent way to rationalise it. I just feel that sympathy and trust are good qualities to culture, regardless of the situation (and pertain excellently to this one).

Hello. I am Wargamer, the Draco Scriba, and I must insist that this 'cease-fire' is removed from your page, if only because it is a case of misadvertisement and therefore illegal by law. Please rectify.

The first posting in this conversation stated that we are not friends, and if anything, should be classed as enemies. Rectify or else.

You haven't been nice enough to me yet to do anything for you.
Excuuuse Me?
Wargamer (The Wanderer) Posted Apr 8, 2002
What? Bloody stupid animals. We insult you, threaten you and you still call us 'friends'. No wonder you need humans...
Excuuuse Me?
Red (and a bit grey) Dog Posted Apr 8, 2002
What's with the threats ? For an ACE you're not very friendly are you ?
Excuuuse Me?
njan (afh) Posted Apr 8, 2002
Wargamer, exactly what point are you making here, and what's your grievance?
Excuuuse Me?
Red (and a bit grey) Dog Posted Apr 8, 2002
Well I can think of any number of h2g2 rules you keep on breaking - please modify and tone down your language. This is supposed to be a friendly community.

Okay. Let me explain carefully.
1) The very first posting stated that we, the Dragonhouse, are not 'allies' or 'friends' with you, the Doghouse, yet there is information to the contrary. In other words, you are saying we are.
2) This was brought up in the first posting of this conversation, yet nothing has been done about it.
3) I have nothing personal against you (except for the fact that I absolutely hate dogs) but, as we are technically at war, or at least will be at war, the chances of me being nice to you any time soon are nil.
4) To sum up the last point: I'm sure that you're very nice people, but we are at war.
5) 'Bloody', in my vocabulary at least, is not a 'bad' word, and indeed there are many acceptable ways it can be used. For example, if a dog (since the phrase 'Bloody Dogs' was used) is badly injured and bleeding, it could be called a bloody dog, due to the amount of blood visible. This isn't relevent, but it is accurate.
6) Your page needs updating. Rectify.

You certainly have a funny way of trying to get me to do what you want. Threats and insults are very counter productive as I am sure you'll find out later in life.
I actually don't think I am going to do anything for you, with you or to you until you become a little more pleasant. I dare say this may take some considerable time but I am the patient sort.
Your explanation about the insult was inventive but hardly credible by the way. Have a nice day

I'm in England. Nice days happen to other people.

Wargamer, you appear to be taking everything far too seriously.. I'm currently holding Red Dog captive, but you don't see me insulting him in any thread I care to drop into.. ..I'd far rather see him as a friend, because I certainly see him as such: I wouldn't like to think that anyone engaged in "war" against the dogs, cats, or other parties were actually doing so out of a genuine hatred for the other parties involved.. it seems to me you're taking this far too seriously, and exhibiting completely the wrong attitude and mentality for a site such as h2g2.

And anyway, your page is innaccurate. This does match my personal view of dogs, but I'm sure that is due to a lack of time on your behalf. Please rectify when you have a moment.
PS: As a form of explanation, 'rectify' is my 'Word for the Day'. Tommorow's will be... who knows...

Hmm... perhaps... but then again humans do seem to enjoy kicking the s*** out of each other for no apparant reason (and I'm sure you can think of some examples).
But anyway... I always believe in getting the right 'Frame of Mind' and for a dragon it is this: we are right, you are charcoal.
I have a very ... flexible personallity.

Thank you Njan, we are occasional adversaries and permanent friends - I respect you and count you as a true and valued friend.
Wargamer I will remove the reference from our site for you but I do not want to see you interacting with us as I don't think you have the necessary skills to understand what this is all about. If you post on our sites I will instruct my forces to ignore you as if you did not exist.
If you wish to play with us then you may contact me separately at your lesiure to discuss how you might go about this. If you do not want to do that then it is a free world and you are at liberty to do what you wish as we will do what our conscience and good sense tells us.

Thankyou. I will not contact you again within the Dog House unless there is a change of cercumstance, or I want to find out why I want to pump magnum rounds into the Andrex puppy...
Long life (you only get 1/7th of a humans...) and good health...
...Providing you don't go chasing cars too often...
...Or bite people, 'coz they'll put you down...
...Or catch some terminal illness...
...
...You get the idea.
