Can I ask a question, rather than indulging in tree-based student humour?
Does anyone know what the price of a train journey from Glasgow to Aberdeen is and does anyone know the price/length of an express bus journey doing the same?

I can't help with that, but I can ask another relevant(ish) question - what's everyone's ETA? That's Estimated Time of Arrival, not Basque seperatists...
It gives me some idea of when to head over to the Crit.

Hmm, I feel deja vue on that question. Myself and the Little Red Haired Girl are staying in town on the Friday night, so whenever rightly.

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it If anyone has read my journals they'll know I'm in a seriuos situation and may be living on the streets after 23rd sept. However if I promised you a bed for the night Peet has my address and telephone number and I'm quite willing to make up the bed settee etc. so you are still welcome.

Tabs, if you can stretch to the return fare(s), I'm sure I could manage to get you (and nessie) a few s...
Hard times are when you need to get out amongst your friends most.

Never mind, Tabitca.
I'm having a pissy life and I'm managing. Just. (Well, I ain't dead yet).
Tsk, and some of my friends (well, one in particular) are full of the joys of, er, Autumn and can't resist doing innaccurate impressions of a tube-train. Don't ask.
On a different note, has a time and place been arranged for meeting?
It looks like I'm going to be getting a train there and back - the bus is a four-hour odd trip and Sod's Law states that I would get one without a toilet
.

So what time are we looking to meet? 1 pm? Maybe 2 would be better - give people time to travel.

1pm sounds good to me; it'd give us time for a couple of pints in the Crit. while everybody else arrives. What we also need to agree on is a time when we'll assume everybody's there and move on to Archie Simpsons.

1pm sounds good to me, that'll give me plenty time to find the pub (I am sh*t at finding pubs). I checked train-times using the magic of the Internet today and there's one leaving Glasgow at 9.45am that should get to Aberdeen by 12.15pm. Looks like my GBA and some games might be coming with me .
Of course, Glasgow was stupidly built with two train stations, but I think the Aberdeen train leaves from Queen Street Station. I have no idea what a day-return ticket will cost, but I would imagine too much.

I dunno if I'm gonna come this time, but I'll need directions just in case, and I'm too bleeping lazy to check the backlog. Unfortunately the last train to Dundee is at 9, but that still gives eight hours of drinking I suppose...

One o'clock sounds good to me. Plenty of time for a leisurely explore of town before stopping in the pub for a spot of lunch. Will see you all there.

Oh, and DD and I arent going to be there. It coincided with his week off and it made more sense for him to come to Brum than for me to go up and both come to Aiberdeen and then back down to Brum Sunday.
Be thinking of you guys. If it helps, we are having a minimeet in Brum at the same time...
Have a number of beers for us!
