h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Someone who's either a dwarf or a gnome or both stands behind the third window to the right. The other two have "Next Window Please" signs on them, and are closed.

Players can put their money or valuables in the safe here, and (hopefully) they'll stay safe until they return because the vault is protected with special high-level spells. Tampering with these sets off alarms - which are not controlled by spells, so to rob the bank would require silencing both the spells and the alarms simultaneously without being noticed, and that'll only get a potential thief about five minutes inside the vault, and they're likely to be nabbed on the way out, so one might say things that are in the bank are "virtually impossible to steal" emphasis on "virtual."

A sign reads, "Now Hiring Tellers."
I would very much like a real player to take over the job of this NPC

The Bank's motto is, "Clink, clink, clank, clank. Put your money in the Bank!"

(Male Lightning Halfling Wizard Gandark Underhill)

Gandark enters the bank and asks, "Um ... I'm Gandark Underhill .... haven't been here in years .... I still have this key .... is my account still there?"

[Bank Employee] why, so it is, Mr. Underhill! And you've accumulated about $100 worth of interest! and $90 of "Being gone for ages" bank fees" which gives you a balance of about $25.

[Gandark] Hey! You can't just make up "charges" like that!!

[Bank Employee] They were in the account contracts back then ... aren't anymore. So here's what I'll do for you. You can open a new account under the new rules, and it's guaranteed to last forever!

[Gandark] Um ... OK .... and put these in then please.

*deposits small pouch of coins*

[Bank Employee] The pouch too?

[Gandark] Sure, why not. The pouch too.

[Bank Employee] Have a nice day!

[Gandark] Whatever.

*departs*

"Hello here, is this here really what it says it is?"
*Adjusts monocle*

"How do you fellows operate: I can just leave money here and you all hang onto it? Then, what happens when I want some of it back?"

*Draws scythe*

"I'm warning you, I'll not be to be made a fool of... I'm a merchant and am allied with the king here."
*Puts it back*

(Then a little curious) : "At the very least could you and your fellows at least give me some kind of a little card (a business card)?"

[Banker] We have a security guarantee that your valuables will be safe here no matter how long you're gone. For an additional fee, we can also guarantee that your materials will be availibile for a specified amount of time in the past also! But don't ask me how it works!

"Thank you. I shall keep this in mind for later, when I do wind up with a large amount of said valuables. In the meantime..."

*A gnat flies out of his pocket*

"I probably have some work to do, like business..."

*Exits*

: (i.e. Weet - wuh-wuhh... )

: I don't think it'd be a good idea for Sharp to do that . He's already a wizard, and a steampunk inventor/herbalist + a "royal engineer" to the king... probably be too busy with another job to do any_one of them right.

yeah ... getting more members who aren't wizards would be nice

wizards are actually kind of weak. For every advantage there is a disadvantage

: Yeah, looking back now, I can kind of see how throwing steampunk/inventor at you like that kind of created a small curve-ball. Later should it be like a sub-class? /

maybe somethin like that. An "Engineer" skill might be in order.

: I guess; it's your call really. Should I have Sharp meet up with LeRue and Anole + whoever else owns and/or operate a shop later and you know, go seek an audience with the king about setting up a merchant's guild/clan thingy?

I have already said we can't move forward on building the rest of the world until we have a Captain of the Guard.
