I'M STARTING TO GET ANNOYED.

'Fraid so Bossell. The ***"**£$%**ing **&*(*******ing *******dy article has already passed the **@@***##[]****~~**ing moderation stage, and I've annotated the article with the date that happened.
Do you have any idea why some ******** ******** ******** needs to put it up for moderation again? I have trouble believing that anyone with such a ************* thin *********** skin can exist on the internet. Will some adults please sort this out before I get ******** ******* *********** ********** ******** ************ ********* off.
In all seriousness, it's ironic that an article about Bill Hicks, such a brutal critic of censorship, should be censored.
This article has been amended according to advice given. It has passed moderation. Either the article fits or it doesn't; I will tolerate no further censorship here. Let the editorial team pin back their ears:- an adult wants to let rip...
PS. The moderation have already had my spleen vented at them.

I'm assuming that the basic problem is with the mod teams working in shifts. One mod doesn't know what the other got as a reply from the in-house team, nor what your changes actually were -- and refers it again. That's exactly the same as with the 'Confusing Words...' entry, until (still assuming here) Peta made a kind of round-the-house-posting.
Anyway: it's best to a) touch the entry only if really necessary, and b) do it at times when it's early in the morning in the UK, so that you can contact the in-house team without waiting for their office hours to begin.
Well, well. That's what makes me still wearing the Goo Berret (apart from the foreign language ban, of course!)

Bossel, you're the voice of reason to an angry young(ish)man.
However, this really isn't good enough. I mean, this is the BBC, not the mothers' union. They should know what they're doing, shifts or no shifts...
Ah... I'm yelling at the wrong person. Bossell, you've been around this thing since I first posted it in Writers' Workshop. Thanks for sticking around...

Could I suggest 'Paranoia in the BBC' as the subject for your next entry? You seem to be an expert now

Ploppy,
I hate to defend these people, but here we go...
"this is the BBC, not the mothers' union. They should know what they're doing, shifts or no shifts..."
This isn't the BBC, it's a bunch of people who volunteer to work for the BBC. Give them a break.
Then, when you've given them a break, and they still screw up, hunt them down and kill them....
Please note, this is an obvious and extremely weak joke, please don't cut it, I really am kidding. Honest.
mmm

OK, I'm calm. I've had a sleep, taken some deep breaths and now I'm cool...
I hadn't picked up on the fact that the moderators are volunteers. I suppose I should cut them some slack..... but not too much.

Ok...ssh...say it quietly, but the moderators have passed the article. This is twice now, so I think I'm safe.
If you want to read it, do so quick in case they change their mind again...

It's still here, I finally got to read it. It certainly doesn't offend me, it just makes me want to hear more of Bill Hicks' stuff - I can't understand why they keep moderating it.
I enjoyed the entry, but I am sure that somebody will shortly point out that writing in the first person is normally to be avoided.
I don't know how to get around that - it's clear that you want the 'health warning' that you may be subjective, because you can't quote much, and the 'this researcher' construction is clumsy.
Still, good luck with getting it into the edited guide - it's worth perservering with.

Captain - moderation was on grounds of copyright rather than taste. And if the entry makes you want to hear more of his stuff - great! Go to it! You won't be disappointed.

Captain, thanks for the input. I'm aware of the "first person" problem. Like you, I can't think of a better way of writing the warning, and I do think the caveat is necessary...
Suggestions gratefully received...

How about...
"... because of copyright restrictions, hence an attempt to explain Bill's humour and his worldview shall be made. This will... , and therefore, an honest remark should be in order:- This researcher (and a whole bunch of others) thinks that Bill Hicks is utterly brilliant."
eh?

thanks very much, but: no. really! I'd prefer to see *my* works showing up on my page. That is, entries where I've contributed *substantially* rather than with a bit here or there

Hiya.
I'm a massive fan of Bill Hicks, and think this should be a great article. I think you should get some links in there (which i can't post to you in this forum) - darktimes, the hicks foundation, etc... Just a quick look on google throws up some good sites.
Can't resist a few more quotes. Is it really only 4 or 5 allowed... poo-bag.
"all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves."
I really like this one - its from revelations but crops up in other work from the end of Hicks' work. Perhaps a 'Discography' would behandy as well as links. I really want this to be an edited entry and get more folk to see/hear his stuff.
