hey Apparition and Della . Nice to see you chickens and cats (!) still around. I've noticed you both holding the side up quite well over on the US thread
Hello Empty Sky. I'm not sure that we have met. I've been away all winter.
I caught up with six7s - he said its been a bit quiet over here...

"I've been away all winter."
Did you fly north?
oops, KEA, right.
Did you walk north for the winter?

Like that song, the Country and Western take-off, about 'bald-headed ??? walking southwards in the spring'... Who on *was* that? It was hilarious.
(Something about Tenessee Birdwalk I think...)
Kia Ora/G'day Two: a Sports Free Zone
nah, I went west. And of course I flew (with a few sideways hops in between)
I don't know much country and western...now I've got Patsy Cline singing "I go out walking...after midnight..."
I tried watching Kim Hill last night for the first time in ages. She was interviewing the American ambassador. I only lasted 30 secs once he started talking
Kim had on a rather nice jumper though.

Saw what was the ambasador on about then?
Kia Ora/G'day Two: a Sports Free Zone
god knows. Kim Hill introduced him by saying that the US thinks NZ is a very very very good friend. Then she asked him wasn't it a mistake that they were in Iraq, given the situation had turned into a quagmire.
I was sitting there looking at the ambassador's haircut, trying to decide if I would trust anything he said. He basically avoided KH's question and turned on the spin ("we should be focussing on what _is_ working in Iraq and remember how bad it was before" kind of thing). I turned off the TV at that point.
The other interesting news item this week was Pauline Hansen getting released from prison . Pity there's no Aussies around to explain that .

I saw her on TV after her release. It's been good to her, she has lost weight, and looks younger... But she still shouts the same old spite...

What do people think of ACT using the 'parliamentary integrety act' that they voted against?
TV3 news listed all the consequences of them loosing an MP

It seems typical ACT, somehow. I thought they were still dithering, but maybe not... They did dither long enough!

Is this Donna Awatere Huata? I've haven't kept up with the consequences for ACT. I'm sure I'll be happy with them though
I don't remember what that legislation does - is it the anti-party hopping one?
Kia Ora/G'day Two: a Sports Free Zone
Apparition™ (Mourning Empty the best uncle anyone could wish for) Posted Nov 11, 2003
yep it's the party hopping law.
Having one of their MPs offically become independant dropps them below a certain level that I wasn't really paying attention to.
They loose $77,000 this year and over $80,000 next year
They loose a seat
They loose places on committees
etc etc
I love bad news for them

Wasn't it hilarious to see the ACT party squirm? They rail against people from other parties who they like to falsely accuse of abusing the system and being on the gravy train. But wasn't it interesting to see what they would do when one of their own people was seen to genuinely be guilty of abusing her position?
The most slimy, arrogant people in the world are finally getting a taste of their own medicine?
