Picked this up from the Flea Market. Before it sat in my space for a long long time, I have brushed it up a bit and decided to put it out here... Would be grateful if you all will point out where it can be improved.

Nice entry!
Didn't get to speak much BM on my one brief visit to Borneo, unfortunately, but this would have been helpful.
Can't think of any substantive suggestions for the moment, but I'm sure that others will be along.

OK-la! I'm a linguist, and I know a bit about this kind of thing, so, here goes...
Unfortunately there is a fundamental problem with this entry. The confusion between the terms 'Malay' and 'Bahasa Malaysia' needs to be eliminated for the entry to make sense. For example, it is incorrect to say 'BM was lingua franca of Malay'. It wasn't - Malay was. These definitions should help clear things up.
Malay: (1) The generic name for the language spoken in Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries. The term is still generally used, eg by publishers and linguists. (2) =Bahasa Malaysia.
Bahasa Malaysia: What Malay (1) is called in the Republic of Malaysia.
Bahasa Melayu: A local name, in areas other than Indonesia, for the Malay language.
Bahasa Indonesia (also Indonesian): What Malay (1) is called in the Republic of Indonesia.
Some little things:
'been in existence' –> been spoken
inclusive of -> including
the Hindu-Buddha religion –> Hinduism and Buddhism
Arab words –> Arabic words
numeral coefficient –> measure word
Also note that Malaya is the old name for Western (or Peninsular) Malaysia.
Hope that helps,
Jack

ok. I see that... hmmm.... Give me a little time while I rework it to make it more definitive.
Thanks!

ok. I have made a few corrections. Let me know how it is. If it still is not coherent, I will rework it...

Erm, oh yes. Sorry, miles away
Looking good
Just a couple of minor changes...
conglomerated -> incorporated
'Some BM Grammar': in the examples of initial consonant mutation, the initial consonants do not change (unless the prefix is pe- rather than pen-
Please don't use 'numeral coefficient'. 'Measure word' is the standard term for this grammatical phenomenon in linguistics; 'numeral coefficient' may be a name used by Malay English speakers, but the term is non-standard and unclear.
