And then there was the Chevy Nova...

... which, unfortunately, was not allowed to cross into France or Spain under its own power.
"No va" = "No go" in French and Spanish... which explains why that particular model did so poorly overseas.

Cheap, loud, large, fast... that's me.
I like to think of myself as a Monte Carlo kind of guy, though...

I used to have the pontiac version of the Nova. The Pontiac Ventura, a sleek monster with a big block and a missing passenger window. I loved that car, but it went the way of the Tucker and now resided in a scrap yard.

Monte Carlo? I think it's a federal law that you have to be a member of AARP to drive one. You're too young, mister! (You too, Marv--i.e. that yellow Caddy in Glacier.) I think you just coined another oxymoron: "sleek monster".

Hey now... I like big cars. My folks had a 78 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Royalle. I loved that car too. As soon as I can afford one, I will be driving a 95 or later Caddy STS. That boat will go 140 mph and is roomy enough for a good road trip. Next time I am up in Montana I will rent one perhaps ...
The Ventura was a sleek monster, big motor with good lines.

Of all people I know, you would be better off in a big car. I got a chuckle out of you hunched up in the passenger seat with your knees practically touching the roof of my car. But a Caddy? Why not buy black ankle socks and Bermuda shorts while you're at it, Granddad!

You are only as old as y ou feel. And I feel old right now...
My all time favorite car is still the 1927 to 1934 Model J Duesenburg. Greatest car ever built. If I can ever find a kit or a replica I will buy it. Either that or bump off Jay Leno as he has an original one.

I drove my friend's Monte Carlo, an 80-something. It was big, roomy, and hauled major butt. How could you give that car to an old person? Chryslers and Oldsmobiles are old people cars.

Or you're only as old as who you're feeling...
Myself I'd like a black "bathtub" Porsche from the mid-60's, a long leopard-print scarf to wind around my hair, some cool cat-eye shades, and a road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway from Oregon to Big Sur.

I can see you in that car.....

BTW, Colonel. Look up Monte Carlo in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of George Burns and Bob Hope driving theirs. It IS an old man's car. And it's not very nice to refer to an old girlfriend's big butt in that way!

A Monte Carlo is hardly only an Old Man's car. I know quite a few people of my age that race monte carlos in a local racing series.

May I also add that the Monte Carlo is Chevy's contribution to the NASCAR circuit... granted, it's as much like the street version as it is like an Edsel...

NASCAR? You do realize that any mention of that activity requires you to drive either an El Camino, a pickup with Confederate Flag mudflaps (or the naked chick) and a gun rack, or live in Mississippi. Henceforth, the two of you are banned from driving your Old Men Cars. Welcome to White Trash Automobiles.

Ah, but have you seen the Caddy Eldorado Ranch Trucks they're driving around Texas. A caddy with a pu bed......and a fifth wheel hookup..
almost as cute as those Corvettes on the Bronco chassis on the fertilizer sprayer mud wheels.....with the mudflaps with a chrome-plated nekkid lady holding a confederate flag in a place best left to the moderator's imaginations.

I tried to start the other day. The Texas summer has sucked the battery.
When we get it paid off, I'll get to work on it.

If it's still just-a-setting-there next winter, lemme know what you'd want for renting it out as a basecampsite for a 'snowbird'. I'd bring me own sleeping bag and Coleman stove and I'd be off to Daytona most of February...
