I'm seriously considering naming a child of mine Jason. And I'll encourage him to play hockey.

SuperMoo: Now With Even More Online-ness

oooh...!!! METEOROLOGY!!! I KNOW THE ANSWER!!! I should...I'm planning on being an Atmospheric Sciences major...anywho...the names rotate on a six(I think) year rotation except that major hurricanes(cat 3 or above) have their names retired to avoid confusion...the naming process began with meteorologists naming hurricanes after their girlfriends...(oddly it didn't say their wives in my weather book...smiley - laugh)...then later on they started alternating male and female names...now they use a system of 21 names...if that number is exceeded then they go to naming the storms after the greek alphabet...

smiley - applause Great info!

I don't want to be in Hurricane Omega, myself.

Could the girlfriend thing be because meteorologists tend to be unmarried?smiley - winkeye
