A Conversation for Hypatia For President of H2G2 Campaign Headquarters
I can be bribed, but I'm very demanding
Sea Change Started conversation Sep 12, 2005
I'm northern white trash, so I only have some thinks in common with Ozarkians. I will need to be persuaded.
The candidates should be my friends. Proof of this action is by adding me to their Friends list.
Hypatia should either include an artichoke recipe in an installment of 'The Cranky Gardener', or have tips on growing Strobilanthes and Heliotrope in the main part of the column.
Jodan should submit for Peer Review an Entry which has content strongly related to my home state, California.
I should be appointed the position of Official Cassandra; that is to say I get to make predictions that nobody should ever believe.
What say you?

You mean like A2773253 ?
I ain't writing any new entries just to get votes though. I write entries when I'm inclined Or just bored, really.

Oh, and you can surely become an Official Cassandra (?). But I ain't gonna force writing for votes and I don't think Hyp should either - though of course it up to her.
Friends list is probably doable.

? Who is forcing whom? Bribery is not a required transaction for anybody. Otherwise it would be called extortion.
I think you and Hypatia both 'have' the means to 'pay' me something that would please me greatly enough that I would vote for you and campaign on your behalf.
Hypatia's recipes are tasty, and she already knows a great deal about gardening, and the Post always needs quality articles of the kind that she can write. It's something she almost automatically does without me making any request of any kind.
I have seen your prodigious output, and you are often just bored enough to write just about anything. I wasn't even requiring the Californian Entry be accepted for Edited Guide, only that it be in PR, so I was fully expecting something quite silly about why Colombus is a better city for finding cheesesteak sandwiches than Sacramento. You seem to be finding this campaigning amusing because I see your posts on many of these conversations about the election; what more time, and how less amusing could writing an article about Arnold Schwarzenegger be?
You-all may decide my vote may be entirely unnecessary since you seem to have many supporters already on your page, or that I will vote for you anyways even if you don't bribe me because I will still find it amusing or in my best interest, or that a partial payment will also make me sufficiently happy. But I am not *forcing* you anything.
I think my offer is a win-win situation, and that we can make a deal. Please let me know what specific objections you may have about it.

Yeah, that's a good point. You weren't forcing us at all. Sorry.
Hyp has some out-of-state guests right now, unexpectedly, but I reckon she might be persuaded to talk about artichokes. If I remember right, she likes artichokes. I don't.
But my last ten EG entries before my 100th... I've been trying to make them special. Better written than the rest. I don't want to make myself write something that I don't have any special interest in - though it would be easy to write something about... I don't know, why San Francisco Bay wasn't discovered for a while. I hope you understand that?
After I've reached 100, I'd be happy to look into a California entry, but... well, that's my specific objection

Sorry to respond so late, real life intervened, and I remember that voting was to be 'sometime in October' and expected more time to talk to people.
I have voted for you as #1, it is 1838 PST on 7 October, I don't know if this will be considered 'in time'. This is in return for you both adding me to Friends list, and consideration for writing article on artichokes, and a California entry, some time AFTER your 100th.

You just made it by the hair on your chinny chin chin. Voting ends tomorrow afternoon BST.
I'll add you to my friends list now I've actually been considering updating the current San Francisco article for some time since I made a trip there a few months back. It was very nice. I especially liked the seals.

Thanks Sea Change. It is an honor to have you on my friends list. So you're an artichoke fan? Lots of folks are afraid to fix them because they look trickier than they actually are. I'm sure I can find you a good recipe.
Thanks again for your support.

I am glad I was on time!
I was having trouble with my power supply on my computer and have been gone for nearly an entire month while I scrambled around trying to repair (not economically possible) and then getting a new machine.
Did you win?

Change. Welcome back.
Ahem.....there is an artichoke recipe in the Post....see The Cranky Gardener. But you need to hurry, because a new issue comes out Thursday morning.

Got it, thanks! I just got some fresh artichokes from the farmer's market yesterday in anticipation, and now the recipe is for marinated ones. Back to the store....

I almost never see fresh ones. And when I do they are very expensive. Lucky you to live where you can buy fresh ones.
I like them but not enough to take up my limited growing space with them.
Key: Complain about this post
